  • Publication number: 20140103832
Abstract: A traffic lamp and a method of controlling the traffic lamp based on a power signal are provided. The traffic lamp can include a controller and a light emitting element. When a plurality of light emitting elements is included in the traffic lamp, each light emitting element is coupled with a separate controller. Each controller can be configured to include a predetermined light emitting timing sequence for the corresponding light emitting element. When the power signal is supplied to the traffic lamp, each controller determines a power signal characteristic such as a frequency or a period of the power signal and controls a light output of the light emitting element based on the power signal characteristic and the light emitting timing sequence. A plurality of light emitting elements can be synchronized using the power signal applied to the traffic lamp.

  • Publication number: 20130134783
Abstract: The present subject matter is directed to an adaptive load circuit for use with traffic light control systems so as to permit operation using low current consumption lamps where the traffic light control systems were originally manufactured for operation with higher current consuming lamps. The adaptive load circuit provides a mechanism whereby an existing traffic light control system is fooled into accepting use of a low current consuming lamp by creating a specifically timed signal during an interval that the traffic light control system normally checks to determined lamp load characteristics.

  • Publication number: 20120242507
Abstract: Systems and methods for monitoring operating parameters of traffic lamps. A traffic lamp includes one or more memory modules and a controller. The controller receives data pertaining to one or more operating parameters of the traffic lamp and logs the one or more operating parameters to the one or more memory modules using the received data. The controller may log the one or more operating parameters to the one or more memory modules upon detection of a fault in the one or more operating parameters.

  • Publication number: 20120242506
Abstract: A system and method for setting operating parameters of traffic lamps. A traffic lamp including a memory operates according to one or more operating parameters on the memory. • Publication number: 20120161641
Abstract: A safety flashing detector that suitably detects unintentional flashing of the LED light engine in a traffic lamp is provided. The LED light engine may flash unintentionally when there are failures (hardware or software) inside a traffic lamp. In certain embodiments, unintentional flashing may be detected using a current sensor. If unintentional flashing is detected, the flashing detector may activate and shut down the LED light engine to remove the hazardous failure and eventually triggers the fuse blowout circuit. Hardware circuitry is suitably employed for both reliability and safety purposes, but software may also be employed.

  • Patent number: 8076921
Abstract: Systems and methods for a self-regulating power supply for MEMS thermal actuators to achieve maximum actuator displacement while preventing over powering. The present invention includes a power supply configured to regulate electrical input power to a MEMS thermal actuator in order to provide the maximum possible electrical input power. Accordingly, the present invention provides a maximum actuator displacement while preventing device failure from over powering. The present invention utilizes resistivity versus temperature properties for silicon or the like to provide a self-regulating power supply that can be utilized to power a variety of MEMS components without requiring custom actuator control circuits for each type of component.

  • Patent number: 7701150
Abstract: A system creates a desired current level within a traffic signal. A power supply unit receives an external power signal and transforms the power signal to a lamp current. A pulse generator monitors the value of the lamp current and automatically adjust the power usage of the current sink circuit to maintained a predefined current amplitude. A current pulser generates square current pulses at a frequency based at least in part on the frequency of the lamp current. A current sink superimposes the rectangular current pulse onto the lamp current and outputs a combined power signal to the alternating current power line.

  • Patent number: 6035125
Abstract: A loop unrolling trasformation specified by loop unrolling factors UF[1], . . . , UF[k] is performed on a perfect nest of k multiple loops to produce an unrolled loop representation as follows. Moving from the outermost loop to the innermost loop of the nest, the unroll factor UF[j] of the current loop is examined. First, the separate unrolled loop body is expanded by the specified unroll factor UF[j]. Second, the loop header for the current loop is adjusted so that if the loop's iteration count, COUNT[j], is known to be less than or equal to the unroll factor, UP[j], then the loop header is simply an assignment of the index variable to the lower-bound expression; otherwise, the loop header is adjusted so that the unrolled loop's iteration count equals .left brkt-bot.COUNT[J]/UF[J].right brkt-bot. a rounded down truncation of the division. Third, a remainder loop nest is generated, if needed. The size of the generated code when unrolling multiple nested loops is substantially reduced.
