  • Patent number: 4609947
Abstract: A video signal recording apparatus of reduced size for portability combines a video camera and helical scan video tape recorder in a single unit, in which the reduced size is obtained in part by having a tape guide drum of reduced diameter, which requires a tape wrap angle greater than the conventional 180.degree. and employs a pair of rotary tape heads that are arranged close together relative to the diametrically opposed conventional head arrangement. The timing of the heads in recording the fields of the video signals as tracks is controlled by a vertical synchronization signal having pulses that are delayed to account for the finite distance between the two rotary heads. The vertical sync signal then has a different time period for a first field than it does for a second field of one frame of the video signal. The camera has an image pickup portion that is caused to be scanned by the same synchronization signals utilized in the recording operation.

  • Patent number: 4510538
Abstract: A miniature helical scan video tape recorder (VTR) utilizes a reduced-diameter guide drum, but the video signals recorded thereby onto the tape have a standard track pattern and can be reproduced using a standard VTR having a guide drum of standard diameter D.sub.1. In the miniature VTR, the tape is wrapped for a tape wrap angle .alpha. (e.g., substantially 300 degrees) at a still angle .theta..sub.2, whereas the standard VTR uses a wrap angle of 180.degree. and a still angle of .theta..sub.1. In order to ensure that the miniature VTR achieves the same record track length l'.sub.N and recording angle .theta..sub.0 as the standard VTR, the diameter D.sub.2 of the miniature VTR is selected to satisfy the equation ##EQU1## where f.sub.V is the video field frequency. The still angle .theta..sub.2 satisfies the equation ##EQU2## the video signal to be recorded is given a non-standard horizontal scanning frequency f'.sub.H according to the relation ##EQU3## where f.sub.

  • Patent number: 4381405
Abstract: A polymethylene polyphenyl polyisocyanate composition comprising polymethylene polyphenyl polyisocyanates, a part of the isocyanate groups contained therein being substituted by a carbamate group, or said polymethylene polyphenyl polyisocyanates having the substituted carbamate group and polymethylene polyphenyl polyisocyanate not having carbamate group. The total amount of the carbamate groups contained in the composition is up to 10 percent by mole based on the total amount of isocyanate groups contained in the composition. The composition is useful for the preparation of rigid polyurethane which has many industrial applications. A process for the preparation of the composition is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4354465
Abstract: An intake air throttle valve control system for a diesel engine which greatly reduces vibration and noise and rough engine running at idling speeds. A throttle valve is provided in an intake passage in series with the intake air manifold of the engine with the valve operated by a negative pressure responsive actuator. The negative pressure responsive actuator is coupled to a source of negative pressure through a series-connected arrangement of a water temperature sensing valve, a vacuum cut-off valve and a negative pressure control valve. The water temperature sensing valve operates to connect or disconnect the source of negative pressure to the actuator in response to the temperature of the engine coolant. The vacuum cut-off valve vents the connections to the actuator to the atmosphere in response to an engine operating parameter such as the exhaust manifold pressure, the pressure in an oil line of the engine, or an output voltage of a generator which varies in response to the engine speed.

  • Patent number: 4310736
Abstract: An arc extinguishing chamber confined by a cylindrical housing of stainless steel, and an insulating chamber within a hollow cylindrical insulator, communicate with each other and are maintained in a vacuum with two contacts formed of an electrically conductive material having lower melting and boiling points than copper disposed in the arc extinguishing chamber. A pair of apertured shield plates disposed respectively at each end of the housing and another pair of shield plates mounted respectively on each contact rod are formed of stainless steel. The housing and the shield plates prevent the extinguishing and insulating chambers from overheating during exhaustion at a high temerature and also from being contaminated in operation due to the vaporization of the contacts. Two heating devices are used to heat the housing to a higher temperature than the insulating chamber during the exhausting operation.
