  • Patent number: 8732422
Abstract: A storage apparatus obtains a snapshot(s) of a first logical volume when needed and saves old data to a second logical volume when data is written to the first logical volume after obtaining the snapshot. A storage area of the second logical volume is allocated in chunk units to the first logical volume and a tendency of order to delete snapshots is judged when the chunks have been completely used up. If there is a tendency to delete the snapshots in their acquisition order, a new chunk is allocated to the first logical volume and a storage area in that chunk is determined to be a save location of the old data. If there is a tendency to delete the snapshots randomly, an unused storage area in a chunk already allocated to the first logical volume is determined to be the save location of the old data.

  • Patent number: 8706986
Abstract: An object of the invention is to provide a storage controller and control method that can efficiently and easily prevent reduced data I/O processing performance due to an imbalance between loads on controllers. In the storage controller and control method for providing, to a host computer, logical volumes created in a storage area provided by a storage device and controlling data I/O to/from the logical volumes, the state of loads on the control units for controlling data I/O to/from the logical volumes is monitored, and a control unit allocated to a logical volume is changed to another control unit to equalize loads on the control units.

  • Publication number: 20130293057
Abstract: A rotor structure for a rotary machine in which a rotor (10) is securely fastened to the outer periphery of a shaft (20) and a positioning key is formed on the inner wall of the rotor (10), while a key (11) is formed on the outer periphery of the shaft (20), wherein curved sections (R) are formed on the side surfaces on both sides of the positioning key (11), thereby reducing stress at the angled sections of the rotor core to a greater extent than positioning keys of the prior art. At the same time, torque can be transmitted over the entire surface of an interference section of the shaft (20) thereby enabling torque to be reliably transmitted, and a magnetic path of a magnetic protrusion (d-axis) to be ensured. A motor can thus be reduced in size.

  • Patent number: 8566541
Abstract: This storage system supplies, to a plurality of computers, a plurality of duplicate volumes (CVOLs) (corresponding to duplicates of a master volume (MVOL) upon which is stored an electronic object (EO) that is common to the plurality of computers). Both the MVOL and the CVOLS are virtual logical volumes that follow sync provisioning. In the plurality of CVOLs, a plurality of physical regions that are allocated to the MVOL (i.e. regions in which the electronic object is stored) (PAs) are allocated. A storage, when writing an electronic module (EM) to which the EO is applied to the first CVOL, copies data within a first PA that is allocated to the virtual region (VA) that is the write destination to a second PA, writes the EM to the second PA, and moreover allocates the second PA to a VA of the write destination, instead of the first PA. And the storage allocates the second PA to a VA within the second CVOL corresponding to the VA of the write destination, instead of the PA that is allocated to that VA.

  • Patent number: 8542213
Abstract: In a touched position detection method for a touch panel for detecting a touched position, based on measured values by a plurality of sensors, presence of a touch is determined when a measured value by a sensor exceeds a touch threshold. As a touch threshold, a value which cannot be attained due to a mere noise but can due to presence of a touch is set. With respect to sensors located in the vicinity of a sensor showing a high measured value, a higher weighted value is applied to modify a measured value in a touched position calculation process than that to be applied to other sensors.

  • Patent number: 8496883
Abstract: A honeycomb filter includes a cell having one open end and another closed end that serves as a fluid flow path and a cell having one closed end and another open end, wherein the cells are alternately disposed. The honeycomb filter includes an undeposited region in an upstream region of a partition portion, which has no trapping layer and has a length of 5% or more and 30% or less of the length of the inlet cell. The upstream region of the partition portion includes an undeposited region having an area of 10% or more of that of the cell in a cross-section perpendicular to the exhaust gas flow direction. The undeposited region with no trapping layer in the upstream region decreases the permeation resistance of the partition portion in the upstream region and facilitates fluid passage through the partition portion in the upstream region.

  • Publication number: 20130027347
Abstract: Provided is a touch panel which completes touch detection within a specified time even when the maximum number of touch points is set to be large. A control portion assigns priorities for being given a high coordinate precision to the respective touch points based on the state of the touch points. The control portion selects coordinate calculation algorithms having coordinate precisions corresponding to the priorities of the respective touch points from among a plurality of coordinate calculation algorithms, and calculates required calculation time for calculating coordinates of all the touch points. The control portion determines the priorities so that the calculated required calculation time is equal to or shorter than a specified time. The control portion selects coordinate calculation algorithms corresponding to the priorities and calculates the coordinates of the respective touch points.
