  • Patent number: 5779231
Abstract: A mounting member fixed to an engine and a mounting member fixed to a vehicle body are interconnected by a hollow elastomeric block which has a variable-volume primary fluid chamber defined therein. A subsidiary fluid chamber having a diaphragm on a portion of an outer wall thereof communicates with the primary fluid chamber through two fluid passages. A movable plate forming a portion of the outer wall of the primary fluid chamber is connected to a voice coil motor, and by one example, is driven at the same phase as a vibration applied from the engine. During a normal traveling, both the fluid chambers communicate with each other through the fluid passage having a smaller length. During idling or during a low speed traveling, a switch-over valve is operated to permit both the fluid chamber to be put into communication with each other through the fluid passage having a larger length.

  • Patent number: 5344128
Abstract: A self-expanding mount controls transmission of vibration of a vibration source to a base. A main liquid chamber is defined between a resilient member fixed to the vibration source or the base and a casing fixed to the base or the vibration source. A metallic bellows is driven in response to a control signal corresponding to vibration of the vibration source, cause a variation in the pressure of liquid within the main liquid chamber. This variation in the liquid pressure causes contraction and expansion of the resilient member to thereby control the transmission of vibration of the vibration source to the base. A cylinder is formed in the casing and defines part of the main liquid chamber. A driven member is received in the cylinder for axial displacement therein in response to the above control signal. The driven member may be a bellows or a piston.

  • Patent number: 5313462
Abstract: The invention provides a synchronism establishing method and apparatus including a plurality of modules having different independent synchronization patterns to be switched wherein the switching transition process having a time length corresponding to the number of protection stages necessary for pull in and protection of synchronism is reduced so small that the presence of such switching transition process can be ignored while assuring similar advantages to those of conventional synchronism establishing apparatus. A master side module delivers a notification of establishment of synchronism thereof to a slave side module. When the slave side module is in a condition wherein synchronism is established, it puts its synchronizing operation into a waiting mode. Even if it thereafter detects a number of abnormal synchronization patterns greater than the number of protection stages, it does not determine a pull out condition and maintains the pulled in phase.

  • Patent number: 5115469
Abstract: Several encoders perform a local decoding of a speech signal and extract excitation information and vocal tract information from a speech signal for an encoding operation. The transmission rate ratio between the excitation information and the vocal tract information are different for each encoder. An evaluation/selection unit evaluates the quality of decoded signals subjected to a local decoding in each of the encoders, determines the most suitable encoders from among the several encoders based on the result of the evaluation, and selects the most suitable encoder, thereby outputting the selection result as selection information. The decoder decodes a speech signal based on selection information, vocal tract information and excitation information. The evaluation/selection unit selects the output from the encoder in which the quality of a locally decoded signal is the most preferable.

  • Patent number: 5091955
Abstract: Disclosed is a voice coding/decoding system having a transmitting part for transmitting a coded signal of an input voice signal at a bit rate lower than a predetermined transmission bit rate and a receiving part for receiving and decoding the coded signal transmitted from the transmission part. To enable the coding and transmitting of an input voice signal in an optimum state without passing through a buffer memory and without having a negative influence on the coder, the transmitting part provides coders for coding the input voice signal and groups of entropy coders. The inputs of the entropy coders in each group are connected to the output of one of the plurality of coders. The transmitting part further provides an evaluation part for evaluating the characteristics of the outputs of the coders and the entropy coders.

  • Patent number: 5003604
Abstract: A voice coding apparatus includes a pitch detecting circuit which detects a pitch period of a voice signal; a pitch waveform generating circuit which samples the voice signal for a plurality of pitches based on the pitch period detected by the pitch detecting circuit and which generates a waveform of one pitch from the waveform of the plurality of pitches; a band restriction circuit which restricts the frequency band of the one pitch waveform generated in the pitch waveform generating circuit; and a coding circuit for coding the voice waveform which is band restricted in the band restriction circuit. The sampling number of the waveform for a plurality of pitches and the restricted bandwidth can be changed in accordance with the amount of the pitch period extracted in the pitch detecting circuit. Further, the pitch detecting circuit is able to correctly detect the pitch period even when the pitch period is not a multiple of the sampling period.
