  • Patent number: 5188693
Abstract: A sealing material includes a polyvinylchloride type resin as a major ingredient, a plasticizer, a thixotroping agent, a powdery filler, an adhesive promoter, and a heat stabilizer, and has a viscosity at the low shearing speed of 12,000 to 20,000 cps and a ratio of the viscosity at the low shearing speed to the viscosity at the high shearing speed of 1.5 to 2.5. The sealing material is suitably applied to gap between steel plates joined to each other by a non-contact way.Preferred polyvinylchloride type resin is a blend of a particulate resin having a mean particle size of 2 to 3 .mu.m mixed with a particulate resin having a mean particle size of 20 to 30 .mu.m at a mixing weight ratio of 1:1 to 3:1. Preferably, the plasticizer is a high molecular plasticizer, and the powdery filler is one having an oil absorption of 40 to 50 cc/100 g.

  • Patent number: 4869935
Abstract: Method and apparatus for applying a sealing material to vehicle bodies which are arranged in series such that front and rear sections of the bodies face each other. A first and a second sealing robots are provided on transversely opposite sides of the vehicle bodies. The first sealing robot is operated to apply the sealing material to one of two areas in an engine room covered by an engine hood of one of the two successive bodies, and the second sealing robot is operated to apply the sealing material to the other area in the engine room, or to one of two areas in a luggage compartment covered by a luggage compartment door of the other of the two successive bodies. The two areas in each of the engine room and the luggage compartment are divided by longitudinal centerlines of the two successive bodies. The first and second sealing robots are further operated to apply the sealing material to the areas in the engine room and luggage compartment, respectively, which areas have not been sealed.

  • Patent number: 4784332
Abstract: A spray head of rotating type electrostatic spray painting device comprises a cup shaped inner circumferential wall and a tip portion from which paint particles are discharged. The outer periphery of the tip portion is formed as an annular flat face perpendicular to the rotating axis of the spray head. The inner periphery of the tip portion is formed as a conical face which diverges toward the outside of the spray head. A plurality of paint guide grooves are formed on only the inner periphery of the conical face.
