Abstract: A method for providing a notification message in a transmitter of a mobile broadcast system supporting an interaction channel is disclosed. Upon an occurrence of a notification event, a first means generates a notification message, and generates at least one delivery request message including a target address based on subscription information of the corresponding terminal, using the generated notification message. A second means determines a channel over which it will deliver a notification message to the corresponding terminal based on the target address, and delivers the notification message over the determined channel.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for supporting mobility in a mobile broadcasting system in which Electronic Service Guide (ESG) discovery is required. The mobility support is classified into three ways according to three different aspects. The first way is to provide roaming information for a local IPDC operator having a roaming partner among local IPDC operators. In the second way, a terminal transmits a query message for requesting transmission of information on a particular local IPDC operator, and receives information on the particular local IPDC operator in response thereto. The third way is to provide the terminal with type information of an ESG; an access type of which is classified according to provision of a roaming service. The roaming information, the information on the particular local IPDC operator and the type information of the ESG, which are provided to the terminal from the mobile broadcasting system, can be provided in an ESG bootstrap level.

Abstract: A mobile broadcast system for delivering a notification event for generation of a notification message for information provisioning to a subscriber receiving a broadcast service is provided. The mobile broadcast system includes a first apparatus for managing subscriber information of the broadcast service, handling generation of at least one notification message according to at least one notification event, and generating a response message indicating generation end of the notification message; and a second apparatus for sending a notification event message for requesting generation of the notification message to the first apparatus according to the at least one notification event, receiving the response message in response thereto, and then handling delivery of the notification message over a broadcast channel or an interaction channel.

Abstract: A method of providing a point-to-point multicast service for transmitting data from a network element to a plurality of terminals in a communication system. The method includes transmitting a first message including service available information from the network element to the plurality of terminals, and transmitting a second message including radio bearer information from the network element to the plurality of terminals. The first message includes a pointer to the radio bearer information.

Abstract: A first terminal subscribes to at least one service using a service guide in which information necessary for reception of each service is stored, and sends the service guide and an identifier (ID) of the subscribed service to a smartcard. The smartcard stores the service guide and the ID of the subscribed service, and sends the service guide and the ID of the subscribed service to a second terminal through a response message to a request message used for acquiring TBK information, received from the second terminal. The second terminal receives the response message by sending the request message to the smartcard, acquires TBK information corresponding to a service that the second terminal intends to play back, from the service guide depending on the subscribed service's ID included in the response message, and acquires the TBK by performing an authentication process using the TBK information.

Abstract: A mobile communication system supporting an MBMS service includes a Node B having a plurality of transport channels and at least one UE communicating with the Node B. The Node B selects a transport channel for MBMS control information among a plurality of transport channels mapped to a secondary common control physical channel; transmits a system information block indicating the selected transport channel to a cell area where UEs are located, using a primary common control physical channel; and transmits the MBMS control information to the cell area using the selected transport channel.

Abstract: An event-processing method and system are provided for efficiently re-delivering notification events stored by a Remote User Interface Server (RUIS), from the RUIS to remote user interface clients (RUICs), in a home network supporting an RUI. An RUIC transmits an information request to the remote user interface server, receives, from the RUIS, notification event information corresponding to the information request, transmits a notification event request based on the received notification event information to the RUIS, and receives, from the RUIS, at least one notification event corresponding to the notification event request.

Abstract: Service guide transmission/reception methods and apparatuses for providing users with a service guide supporting multiplay service are provided. Service guide delivery information is received at a terminal. Device class grouping information is extracted from the Service guide delivery information. A Service Guide Data Unit (SGDU) having service guide information required for composing a service guide matched to the terminal is received. The service guide composed using the service guide information received by means of the SGDU is displayed.

Abstract: A method for changing a subscription status of a service in a mobile communication system, and a system thereof. A method is provided for changing a subscription status of a service by a terminal in a mobile communication system. The method includes transmitting a pause request message, in which a pause period of the subscription status is included, to a network entity; receiving, from the network entity, a pause response message including therein a possible pause period for the pause period included in the pause request message, and a trigger for changing validity for a Long-term Key stored in the terminal; and changing validity for the Long-term Key using the trigger for the possible pause period included in the pause response message.

Abstract: Provided is a broadcasting system based on a network using an Internet protocol (IP). In the broadcasting system, a broadcast transmitter previously transmits first access information including a first network address for transmitting a general notification message and second access information associated with management of the broadcasting system, to a broadcast receiver. If a general notification event occurs, the general notification message is generated and the generated general notification message is transmitted to the broadcast receiver via one of a broadcast network and an interaction network using the first network address. The broadcast receiver receives a general notification message based on the first network address in data received from the broadcast transmitter.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method and an apparatus for transmitting/receiving mobility information to support the handover and roaming in a digital broadcasting system. The transmission method includes the steps of setting mobility information including information elements for indicating at least one handover/roaming type according to whether or not support of an interactive network is available for handover/roaming; inserting the mobility information into at least one of an ESG regarding broadcasting services, a notification message, and an independent signaling message so that the mobility information is transmitted to at least one terminal; and conducting handover or roaming of the terminal according to the mobility information.

Abstract: A method and system is provided for sharing a service guide or a service guide fragment in a mobile broadcast system supporting a mobile broadcast service. A Broadcast Service Provisioning Client Function (BSP-C) sends a request for the service guide or service guide fragment to a Broadcast Service Provisioning Management Function (BSP-M). The BSP-M transmits the service guide or service guide fragment to the BSP-C if the BSP-M has the service guide or service guide fragment.

Abstract: A system for reporting a reception ratio of a broadcast service in a broadcasting system. A network entity sends a reception ratio report indication message indicating at least one measurement type of a reception ratio for a broadcast streaming service. A terminal receives the reception ratio report indication message, and sends a reception ratio report message including the reception ratio indicative of a ratio of an expectedTotalPackets indicating a total number of packets that the terminal expects to receive for a reception ratio measurement interval according to a measurement type indicated by the reception ratio report indication message, to a receivedTotalPackets indicating a total number of packets that the terminal has received for the reception ratio measurement interval.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and system are provided for controlling a scene structure of a mobile terminal for receiving and displaying data streams in a mobile broadcast system. When logical channels are multiplexed into one physical channel, the multiplexed channels are sequentially decoded and are displayed on an image. A channel circulation scene alternately displays the channels on one image in designated order. In a combination scene structure, a new node is added to a conventional Lightweight Application Scene Representation (LASeR) technology. To compose a scene, fields for time information and scene transition effect are provided. A delay time due to a channel change is reduced. A multi-channel image is effectively provided to address a problem when a user retrieves service content while directly switching a channel. The terminal dynamically composes the multi-channel image using stream source node information from a service provider without an additional mosaic channel.

Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for providing a User Interface (UI) service in a multimedia system. The method includes receiving UI data from a UI server; abstracting UI data that is structuralized on an object-by-object basis, and corresponds to an input from a UI client; creating adaptive UI data by reflecting a UI environment of a device for displaying, in the abstracted UI data; and displaying the created adaptive UI data.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing an SG in a mobile broadcasting system are provided. The apparatus and method include a terminal for receiving a first SG, for acquiring reception information about a second SG from the first SG, if a service fragment list extracted from the first SG includes information about at least one second SG different from the first SG, and for receiving the second SG based on the acquired reception information.

Abstract: A method of updating software of terminals in a mobile broadcast system is provided. The method includes creating an update command for terminals of a particular model, the update command including update information; and broadcasting the created update command. The update information includes software version information and at least one of terminal manufacturer information and terminal model information. Further, the method may further include, before broadcasting the created update command, forcibly requiring terminals subscribe to an update service; and creating and broadcasting an update file for terminals of the particular model from among the forcibly subscribed terminals. The software of the terminals may be firmware.

The method includes creating a seed key pair including a first key and a second key, transmitting the seed key pair to a terminal to which the broadcast service is to be provided, creating a certain number of encryption keys using the seed key pair, the certain number corresponding to a lifetime of the seed key pair, encrypting broadcast service data for the lifetime using the encryption keys, and broadcasting the encrypted broadcast service data.

Abstract: A method for providing stereoscopic three-dimensional (3D) image/video content in a terminal based on Lightweight Application Scene Representation (LASeR) is provided. The method includes receiving a LASeR content including therein stereoscopic 3D image/video information, decoding the received LASeR content according to a stereoscopic 3D image/video attribute, checking LASeR commands from the decoded LASeR content, carrying out the LASeR commands, parsing scene information including stereoscopic 3D image/video information included in the decoded LASeR content, determining whether a media object to be included in scene description is a stereoscopic 3D image/video according to the stereoscopic 3D image/video information and, when the media object to be included in scene description is a stereoscopic 3D image/video, displaying the stereoscopic 3D image/video according to whether the terminal supports a stereoscopic 3D image/video.
