  • Patent number: 6198940
Abstract: A mobile radiophone apparatus includes an A/D converter for outputting an input analogue voice signal as quantized data and a highly efficient voice encoder for extracting features of the quantized data output from the A/D converter and converting the data to codes of a smaller quantity by a fixed time unit. • Patent number: 6075324
Abstract: The invention provides a portable apparatus which eliminates noise generated by vibrations of an EL device without adhering a vibration preventing sheet to the apparatus. Microprocessor 3 of the portable apparatus displays characters and a graphic form on display unit 1, and in order to illuminate display unit 1, microprocessor 3 controls EL device driver 5 to generate an AC voltage and causes EL device 4 to emit light. EL device 4 vibrates itself with a frequency equal to the frequency of a driving voltage and generates noise. An output voltage signal having a voltage and a phase converted by reverse phase generator 6 is applied to receiver 7. Consequently, sound of a phase reverse to that of the generated noise is generated from receiver 7. The sound of the phase reverse to that of the noise generated from EL device 4 is combined in a space in front of the receiver with the noise generated from EL device, thereby cancelling the noise generated from EL device 4.

  • Patent number: 5812944
Abstract: In a mobile radio communication system where a base station is connected to a public switched telephone network, a hybrid unit and an echo canceler are provided in the base station. A mobile radiotelephone unit receives a base-to-mobile coded speech signal from the base station on a downlink channel and transmits a mobile-to-base coded speech signal on an uplink channel. In order to avoid the interruption of a base-to-mobile speech signal at the echo canceler which would occur as a result of a delayed, high-amplitude mobile-to-base analog speech signal, the mobile unit compares the energy parameter of the mobile-to-base coded speech signal and the energy parameter of the base-to-mobile coded speech signal, determines the difference therebetween when the former is higher than the latter, and reduces the energy parameter of the mobile-to-base speech signal by an amount corresponding to the difference.

  • Patent number: 5799244
Abstract: In order to adaptively control the level of an alarm which warns of imminent or impending communication interruption, an error information signal and data frame energy, which are both derived during the decoding of an incoming signal, are used. If the incoming signal is deteriorated to an extent that communication interruption is imminent, an alarm signal is issued and superimposed on a voice signal. The level of the alarm signal is controlled in accordance with the detected frame energy.

  • Patent number: 5507854
Abstract: First and second electrodes are inserted into molten metal. A first pseudo random signal is transmitted to the first electrode, and at the same time the first pseudo random signal and a second pseudo random signal which has the same pattern as the first pseudo random signal but which is slightly different in frequency from the first pseudo random signal are multiplied by each other in a first multiplier to thereby calculate a first product value. A signal obtained from the second electrode and the second pseudo random signal are multiplied by each other in a second multiplier to thereby obtain a second product value. The displacement of the molten metal is calculated from the time difference between maximum correlation values respectively appearing in time series patterns of the first and second product values.

  • Patent number: 5428673
Abstract: A facsimile apparatus sends a quasi-ring back tone to a destination in response to a call from the destination, and detects a CNG from the destination while the apparatus is periodically sending the quasi-ring back tone to the destination. When the apparatus detects a CNG for the first time, the apparatus stops sending the quasi-ring back tone and then performs facsimile communication in response to a second detection of a CNG from the destination, so as to certainly detect the CNG and to quickly shift to facsimile communication.

  • Patent number: 5304261
Abstract: In a method of fabricating a channel box for use in a nuclear reactor, Zr-alloy sheet material is formed into a tubular channel box. The method includes solution heat treatment of the Zr-alloy sheet material including quenching from a temperature at which .beta.-phase is present. After the solution heat treatment, portions of the Zr-alloy sheet are thinned relative to other portions by a non-stressing thinning process, such as chemical etching in a bath. The corrosion resistance imparted by heat treatment is retained, and the heat treatment itself is easily performed on material of uniform thickness.

  • Patent number: 5023570
Abstract: An emitter-follower circuit includes a bipolar transistor of a first conductivity type operating as an emitter-follower transistor and a bipolar transistor of a second conductivity type operable as a clamping transistor. The voltage developed between the base and the emitter of the second conductivity type clamping transistor is adapted to clamp the voltage developed between the base and the collector of the first conductivity type transistor, so that such a high voltage as exceeding the breakdown voltage is not developed between the collector and the emitter of the first conductivity type transistor. The emitter-follower circuit is capable of operating with safety even when an input signal applied thereto has a wide range of direct current components.
