Publication number: 20020134128Abstract: A metal member to be cast-wrapped by a metal cast article, a manufacturing method thereof and a metal cast article including the metal member cast-wrapped are provided. A hollow cylindrical metal member having an outer surface with projections to be cast-wrapped by a metal cast article is manufactured in such a manner that a hollow cylindrical metal raw material 13 is inserted in a die 17 having a inner peripheral surface with longitudinal grooves of a depth H and a width W, and the hollow cylindrical metal raw material 13 is subjected to hot-extrusion.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 12, 2002Publication date: September 26, 2002Inventors: Yoshiaki Koyama, Mitsunori Arimura, Kaoru Mitsuuchi, Toshiyuki Shibasaki, Yoshiaki Itou, Ryuji Shiga, Kouji Yamada

Publication number: 20020092146Abstract: An inexpensive mechanical fuse having a high fatigue limit ratio and high rupture reliability, and superior in forming performance, and a method of manufacturing the same are presented. The mechanical fuse is composed of Fe-based sintered alloy, and comprises an inner rim 2 fixed to one power transmission shaft, an outer rim 3 fixed to the other power transmission shaft, and plural arms 4 for linking the inner rim 2 and outer rim 3, which are formed integrally. The arms 4 include rupture portions 6 which are ruptured when exposed to an overload torque. By treating in steam, an iron oxide phase is formed in the surface layer and pore inner wall. The iron oxide phase is effective to form round pores and lower the notch sensitivity. As a result, the fatigue strength and fatigue limit ratio are enhanced.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 27, 2001Publication date: July 18, 2002Applicant: Hitachi Powdered Metals Co., Ltd.Inventors: Tadayuki Tsutsui, Kei Ishii, Yoshihiro Tanimura, Kouji Yamada, Yuuichi Aoki

Patent number: 5947067Abstract: A vane type valve timing adjustment device used in an internal combustion engine, wherein a plurality of vanes are formed radially and integrally from a boss portion of a vane rotor and a stopper portion able to contact a housing side is formed at a specific vane among these. Since a large stress acts at the root portion where the specific vane connects with the boss portion, stress is prevented from concentrating at the root portion by chamfering the corner or forming a connecting part with a large radius of curvature or a nonmachined surface, surface hardened surface, etc. to increase the strength.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 1998Date of Patent: September 7, 1999Assignee: Denso CorporationInventors: Yoshio Kawaharaguchi, Masayasu Ushida, Kouji Yamada

Patent number: 5803514Abstract: A structure for mounting a bumper beam 2 extending transversely of a vehicle covered with a bumper face 6 and mounted to a chassis 3 through a support 4, in which the bumper beam 2 is formed into a hollow body made of high-tension steel, the front end of the support 4 extends forward beyond the rear portion of the bumper beam 2. Thus, when a large collision energy works on the lightweight bumper beam formed into a hollow body made of high-tension steel, the collision energy is quickly transferred to the vehicle chassis through the front end of the beam.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 1997Date of Patent: September 8, 1998Assignee: Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Akihiro Shibuya, Kouji Yamada, Yoshinobu Kanazawa

Patent number: 4727419Abstract: In case of detecting tire information marks engraved in a side wall portion of tire in the form of protrusion or recess, width and inner diameter of tire are detected to provide a tire size signal, after a first camera head is driven into a given position in accordance with the tire side signal, an identification mark engraved in the size wall portion of tire is optically detected by the first camera head to derive a position signal, and after a second camera head is driven into a given position in accordance with the position signal, the tire information marks are optically detected by the second camera head to derive a tire information signal. In this manner, the tire information marks can be detected in a rapid and accurate manner.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 1986Date of Patent: February 23, 1988Assignee: Bridgestone CorporationInventors: Kouji Yamada, Yoshio Marumoto, Tetsuo Mizuno

Patent number: 4700078Abstract: Tire information marks for denoting tire kind, tire size, etc. formed in a surface of side wall of tire as protrusion or groove having a triangular cross section are optically detected by illuminating the surface of side wall of tire from a first direction substantially perpendicular to the surface of side wall of tire and a second direction inclined with respect to the surface of side wall of tire, and picking up an image of the surface of side wall of tire thus illuminated from the two different directions to derive an image signal. The image signal thus derived is converted into a bivalent signal, and is thinned to produce a mark pattern. Then the mark pattern is compared with a thick standard mark pattern. When a substantial part of the detected mark pattern is included in the standard mark pattern, the detected mark pattern is recognized to be identical with the standard mark pattern.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 1986Date of Patent: October 13, 1987Assignee: Bridgestone CorporationInventors: Tetsuo Mizuno, Yoshio Marumoto, Kouji Yamada
