Abstract: A computer system is provided with an antenna which disables inappropriate wireless communications when a communication controller is inconsistently connected with the antenna. The computer having a diversity antenna connected to a detachable wireless LAN card containing a controller for providing wireless communication is mounted in a mini PCI slot, comprising a switch device for recognizing the identification information (ID) of the wireless LAN card to be mounted by BIOS executed on a CPU, in which the connection between the diversity antenna and the wireless LAN card is maintained in an off state (default) as an initial state in which the wireless LAN card is mounted, and the connection is enabled based on the identification information recognized by the BIOS.

Abstract: In a network security system, clients search for neighbor access points (APs) in order to establish wireless connections to a LAN. As a result of the search, each of the clients dispatches a list of access points obtained to a controller. The controller detects non-registered access points by comparing a list of previously registered access points with the lists dispatched by the clients.

Abstract: A computer device, according to the present invention, includes: a power source judging means for judging whether power is supplied from an AC power source to the computer device capable of connecting with a wireless communications module which transmits and receives data to/from an access point; and a control means for controlling the timing of measuring the strength of connection with the above described access point based on judgment by the above described power source judging means. Therefore, by setting the timing of measuring the strength of connection with the access point based on whether or not the computer device is used at an almost fixed location, which in turn is judged by distinguishing the type of power source, it is possible to change the amounts of data transmitted and received by the wireless communications module.
