    Abstract: An air conditioning system for use in a vehicle including a baggage room under the floor thereof and a bulk-head in the rear portion thereof, in which the bulk-head has inside and outside air intake ports and exhaust ports respectively communicating with the inside and outside air intake ports, the air blast openings of upper and lower ducts respectively provided in the ceiling and floor portions of a passenger room of the vehicle and a blower are disposed on both sides of the bulk-head, the two blast openings are formed in such a manner that they face the discharge port (air blast port) of the blower, a switching door is interposed between the discharge port and the air blast openings of the upper and lower ducts, the air intake port of the blower is formed in such a manner that it faces inwardly of the bulk-head, the components of an air conditioning unit are stored within the bulk-head, and compressors are disposed just below the bulk-head.

    Abstract: A thin film forming method and apparatus is provided, wherein a negative voltage is applied alternately to a target and a substrate to perform film formation and reverse sputter alternately. Further, a coil is mounted between the target and the substrate and a high frequency current is made to flow therethrough to generate plasma. A negative base voltage smaller in absolute value than that during sputter may be applied to the substrate to make a fraction of Ar ions to flow into the substrate while it is subjected to reverse sputter. Thus, a film whose step coverage is 0.3 or more is possible. It becomes also possible to hold stable discharge and reverse sputter at a high vacuum region. The pressure of an Ar atmosphere may be lowered to 10.sup.-3 Torr or less. A film whose peak value of x-ray diffraction strength in the (111) plane is 150 Xcps or more is possible.

    Abstract: A semiconductor chip module includes semiconductor chips each of which has contacts on its entire front face. A multi-layered organic circuit board having a small dielectric constant is provided for mounting the semiconductor chips. Intermediate ceramic substrates having the same thermal expansion coefficient as that of the semiconductor chip, are also provided. Each such intermediate ceramic substrate has contacts on its front and back faces corresponding to those of the semiconductor chip. These contacts are electrically connected directly in a one-to-one relationship. The contacts on the semiconductor chip and the corresponding ones on the front face of the intermediate ceramic substrates are connected by solder. The contacts on the back face of the intermediate ceramic substrate and the corresponding contacts on the front face of the multi-layered ceramic circuit board are connected by respective conductive pins having a predetermined flexibility and rigidity through a predetermined gap therebetween.

    Abstract: An auxiliary film is applied or fused to a slide fastener chain having a pair of intermeshing rows of coupling elements with an element-free space defined therein. The slide fastener chain is fed by a chain feeder along a feed path. The device for applying the auxiliary film includes an ultrasonic horn disposed above the feed path, a holder disposed below the feed path and movable toward and away from the ultrasonic horn, a stopper disposed in the holder and movable into the element-free space of the slide fastener chain, an anvil disposed in the holder and movable toward and away from the ultrasonic horn, and a feed roller assembly for supplying an elongate auxiliary film onto the anvil. A sensor roller is mounted on the holder for pressed engagement with the elongate auxiliary film, the sensor roller having a plurality of circumferentially equally spaced controlling elements.

A ball dropped into one end of the hose is rolled through the hose until reaching a receptacle or goal attached to the opposite end of the hose. Because of the convolutions in the hose, a player is required to twist and turn in order to manipulate the ball through the hose. A bell mounted in the receptacle is rung by the ball when it enters the receptacle.

    Abstract: Separable slide fasteners are manufactured from an alongate slide fastener chain composed of a pair of slide fastener stringers having rows of coupling elements alternating with element-free portions having substantially U-shaped recesses defined in inner edges thereof. The elongate slide fastener chain is fed under tension along a longitudinal path, and the slide fastener stringers are separated from each other. Then, an insertion pin is attached laterally to the inner edge of one of the element-free portions, and a box pin is attached laterally to the inner edge of another element-free portion confronting said one element-free portion. The insertion pin and the box pin which are laterally aligned with each other are threaded through a slider until certain coupling elements of the slide fasteners stringers are interengaged. Then, a box is attached to the box pin.

    Abstract: An elongate separable slide fastener chain is cut off into individual separable slide fasteners, the slide fastener chain having a plurality of longitudinally spaced element-free portions with pin-receptive boxes supported respectively thereon. The slide fastener chain is fed under tension in one direction, and then stopped to release the slide fastener chain of its tension. The leading and trailing ends of one of the boxes are clamped to position the slide fastener chain. Then, the slide fastener chain is severed across one of the element-free portions adjacent to the leading end of the box. With this arrangement, the slide fastener chain can be positioned accurately for severance and cut off into separable slide fasteners which are sightly in appearance and equal in length.

The drive and driven pulley mechanisms (2,22) have axially movable members (5,24) located on opposite sides of the V-belt (7) adjacent to the engine (E) and the clutch (36) to allow parallel displacement of the V-belt (7) during the changing of the diameters of the pulley mechanisms (2,22), to prevent belt twisting or distortion and to prevent the belt (7) and pulley mechanisms (2,22) from being loaded while the vehicle is moved around with the engine (E) turned off.

    Abstract: A method of metallizing ceramics in which, on a desired surface of a ceramic containing a silicon compound, a manganese-containing metal layer substantially free from any minute gaps with respect to the surface of the ceramics is formed, whereupon the resultant structure is heated to a temperature lower than the melting point of manganese to cause the reaction between manganese atoms and the silicon compound.As a method for forming the metal layer, there is a method wherein a deposited film is formed by vacuum-evaporating or sputtering manganese metal or a manganese alloy or a method wherein a melt of a manganese-copper, manganese-nickel or manganese-titanium alloy is formed on the surface of the ceramic under the application of a pressure. The metallizing method can be conducted at a lower temperature and in a shorter period of time compared with a conventional metallizing method.
