Patent number: 4949422Abstract: This invention relates to a connecting member for a wiper blade and a wiper arm including a plastic structural member and a metallic locking spring. The structural member has a bearing bore as a receiver for a pivot pin. The locking spring is retained at a first end portion and intersects the bearing bore and acts upon the pivot pin by means of its center area. A second end portion of the spring forms a release key positioned behind the bearing bore. The release key of the locking spring is covered by a wing which is intergrally formed as part of the wall of the structural member by means of a film hinge.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 1988Date of Patent: August 21, 1990Assignee: SWF Auto-Electric GmbHInventors: Kurt Bauer, Eckhardt Schmid

Patent number: 4947508Abstract: This invention describes a wiper arm, which in the receiving area (19, 14, 15) for the swivelling axis (18) between fastening member (10) and link (11) has a recess (40, 43), which permits a dipping of the spring holding yoke (30) into the swivelling axis receiving area (19, 14, 15) for achieving a stable tilted position (A) of the link (11). Thereby a low mode of construction of the wiper arm can be adhered to. In a preferred embodiment there is provided a hole-shaped recess (40) in a rolled bearing bush (19). which otherwise extends round and along the entire swivelling axis (18) thereby ensuring in addition a good guidance of the swivelling axis.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 1989Date of Patent: August 14, 1990Assignee: SWF Auto-Electric GmbHInventors: Kurt Bauer, Hans Prohaska, Eckhardt Schmid

Patent number: 4741071Abstract: In a wiper blade for a vehicular windshield wiper system, the main yoke is equipped with a spoiler constructed such that the overall height of the wiper blade is not enlarged and nevertheless the spoiler is prevented from touching the window pane to be cleaned. The spoiler is formed in such a way that the wiping pattern does not deteriorate at low or higher driving speeds.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 1986Date of Patent: May 3, 1988Assignee: SWF Auto-Electric GmbHInventors: Kurt Bauer, Helmut Markert, Hans Prohaska, Eckhardt Schmid

Patent number: 4736484Abstract: In a windshield wiper system for motor vehicles the contact pressure of the wiper onto the window is adjustable while the wiper is moving. For this purpose a multi-part actuator driven by an electromotive adjusting device and guided in a bore of the wiper shaft is axially displaced. The multi-part construction of this actuator compensates for faulty alignment, so that the adjusting mechanism operates with a good efficiency and enables rapid adjusting times.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1986Date of Patent: April 12, 1988Assignee: SWF Auto-Electric GmbHInventors: Kurt Bauer, Herbert Bienert, Bruno Egner-Walter, Eckhardt Schmid, Volker Tietz

Patent number: 4723101Abstract: A windshield wiper system includes two windshield wipers of which each is mounted on a separate wiper shaft and may be driven to and fro by a separate motor between an inner reversing position and an outer reversing position, which windshield wipers are at least partially superposed in their inner reversing position and rotate in opposite directions through one wiping cycle. The two windshield wipers are moved without collision even though they wipe an overlapping area. The first windshield wiper is driven by its associated motor with a greater angular velocity of the output shaft than the second windshield wiper is driven by its motor. In addition the first windshield wiper is stopped for a predetermined time in its inner reversing position between two wiping cycles.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 1986Date of Patent: February 2, 1988Assignee: SWF Auto-Electric GmbHInventors: Kurt Bauer, Oldrich Krizek, Hans Prohaska, Eckhardt Schmid

Patent number: 4692677Abstract: A windshield wiper system for motor vehicles includes an electric motor which drives at least one wiper during normal wiper operation, too and fro between two reversing positions within a wiping area. When the wiper system has been switched off by means of an operating switch, the wiper is moved to a concealed parking position outside the wiping area. Upon switching on of the wiper system and during normal operation the motor runs in one direction of rotation, but for moving the wipers into the parking position the motor runs in the other direction of rotation. A position switch is changed over by a switching member coupled with a rotating drive member of the electric motor. The position switch, after the operating switch has been switched off, releases a signal for reversing the polarity and in the parking position releases a signal for switching off the electric motor.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 1985Date of Patent: September 8, 1987Assignee: SWF Electric GmbHInventors: Kurt Bauer, Theodor Schneider

Patent number: 4594746Abstract: A windshield wiper unit has a slide which is supported so as to be movable in a longitudinal direction in a housing which is driven to and fro, and a wiper arm which is fastened with a fastening part to an end section of the slide. A low overall height is achieved by the fastening part having a recess with which it is placed on the end section of the slide in the longitudinal direction of the slide and by the end section being jammed in the recess.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 1984Date of Patent: June 17, 1986Assignees: SWF Auto-Electric GmbH, Daimler-BenzInventors: Kurt Bauer, Reinhard Edele, Bruno Egner-Walter, John M. Patent number: 4563036Abstract: To achieve minimum manufacturing and assembly costs a locking system for a cover in a vehicle roof is located in the area of the rear end of the cover. At its front end the cover is pivotally hinged about an axis, directed transversely to the driving direction, and its rear end is supported by a swinging-out or lifting device, formed by curved segment-shaped supports. The curved segment-shaped supports include laterally cantilevered lugs one of which engages in an operating slot guide in the cover and the other is engageable in a locking slot guide, also in the cover.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 1983Date of Patent: January 7, 1986Assignee: Karosseriewerke Weinsberg GmbHInventor: Kurt Bauer

Patent number: 4559663Abstract: A low overall height is provided in a wiper-arm assembly with a wiper arm which has a fastening part, a link part which is swivelably linked to the fastening part and two side walls and a back connecting the two side walls, and a contact pressure spring which is accommodated in the link part and acts on the link part and the fastening part, and also with a wiper blade linked to the wiper arm, which blade lies at least partly in line with the link part. The low height is achieved by making the clearance between the contact pressure spring and the one side wall of the link part greater than the width of the wiper blade in the area of the link part and by the wiper blade being swivelable into the link part alongside the contact pressure spring.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 1984Date of Patent: December 24, 1985Assignees: SWF Auto-Electric GmbH, Daimler-BenzInventors: Kurt Bauer, Reinhard Edele, Anton Epple, Hans Trube, Martin Pfeiffer, Josef Berger

Patent number: 4535456Abstract: To permit, by a program, supervision of a programmable controller, which controls, for example, operation of a machine tool, or other device in which sequential events occur, a computer controlled diagnostic unit (2) is connected to the programmable controller (1). The stepping or sequencing structure of the program in the programmable controller (1) is stored in the diagnostic unit (2), for example in a fixed memory (ROM 4). Supervision of the control of the machine tool, engine, or other operating unit, for example due to malfunction of transducers, connecting lines, and the like, is supervised by testing if the conditions for going from one step in a program to the next step are always satisfied; if an error is recognized, the respective steps of the control program are interrogated, and the conditions for stepping from one step to the next are tested.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 1983Date of Patent: August 13, 1985Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Kurt Bauer, Karl-Heinz Fischer, Heinz Huber
