  • Publication number: 20010002236
Abstract: A hydraulic control unit for a motor-vehicle braking system comprises a pump (32) delivering hydraulic fluid under pressure, said pump being capable of being controlled by an electronic control unit (ECU) and supplying the hydraulic fluid for at least one braking device (22) which is coupled to a wheel of the vehicle, and also a first reservoir (34) for pressureless hydraulic fluid, which is assigned to the pump (32) on the input side, and a second reservoir (36) for hydraulic fluid under pressure, which is assigned to the pump (32) on the output side. In order to design the control unit in such a way that it is not unshapely and problems [sic] as regards installation space arise in not uncritical manner, the pump (32), the first reservoir (34) and the second reservoir (36) are arranged in a common casing (60), integrated as an electrohydraulic modular unit.

  • Patent number: 6209583
Abstract: The invention relates to a pressure accumulator which may be used in an electronically controllable vehicle braking system for a motor vehicle. In an electronically controllable vehicle braking system with a cylinder/piston arrangement (i.e., a master cylinder) providing a brake fluid , a brake pedal actuates the cylinder/piston arrangement to provide brake fluid acting on the brake of the motor vehicle. The cylinder/piston arrangement is connectable with a pump arrangement and the pressure accumulator.

  • Patent number: 6076558
Abstract: The invention relates to an electronically controllable vehicle braking system for a motor vehicle with a cylinder/piston arrangement providing a brake fluid, which, by actuating a brake pedal, is caused to provide brake fluid acting on the brake of the motor vehicle, with the cylinder/piston arrangement being connectable with a pump arrangement and a pressure accumulator. The pressure accumulator has a housing which comprises a fluid connection for a fluid flowing into and out of the housing as well as a spring arrangement against whose force brake fluid flowing through the fluid connection is acting, with at least one part of the spring arrangement being formed by at least one part of the housing wall.

  • Patent number: 5979999
Abstract: An electrohydraulic braking system for motor vehicles with a brake master cylinder which can be actuated by a brake pedal. A wheel brake is coupled with at least with one vehicle wheel. The wheel brake can be connected with the brake master cylinder in order to subject the wheel brake to pressurized hydraulic fluid. A hydraulic pump, and a hydraulic pressure accumulator supplied by the pump, form an alternative source of pressurized hydraulic fluid which can be supplied to the wheel brake through a control valve arrangement in a controlled manner in order to subject the wheel brake to pressurized hydraulic fluid. A shut-off valve is arranged between the hydraulic pump and the hydraulic pressure accumulator in order to selectively make or shut-off a connection between the hydraulic pump and the hydraulic pressure accumulator to permit the hydraulic pump, in certain situations, to rapidly pressurize the braking system without having to simultaneously recharge the hydraulic pressure accumulator.

  • Patent number: 5772290
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling the brake pressure in a vehicle brake system equipped with an electronically adjustable brake booster (10), comprising an actuator (22) which transmits the actuating movement of the brake pedal to a master brake cylinder and has assigned a path limiting element (80) which limits the axial actuating movement of the actuator (22) in that it is received between abutments (90, 92), the apparatus being characterized in that a switch is actuated by the path limiting element (80) together with one of the abutments (90), said switch supplying a signal to the brake booster when the path limiting element (80) abuts the one abutment (90).

  • Patent number: 5735581
Abstract: A valve assembly for controlling a pneumatic brake booster (10) comprises a control housing (30) in which a first and a second valve seat (32, 34) are arranged. A valve body (40) is adapted to contact both valve seats. The brake booster (10) is provided with two chambers (24 26) in the usual manner, one chamber (24) of which can be evacuated while the other chamber (26) can be supplied with pressurized air. An additional valve seat (66) is provided. The additional valve seat (66) can be opened by a sleeve (72) which radially surrounds the control housing (30) of the brake booster, in order to form an additional ventilation duct (80) to one of the two chambers. The sleeve (72) can be actuated mechanically and/or electromagnetically by an electromagnetic actuation device (90).

  • Patent number: 5658055
Abstract: The vehicle brake system including an electronically controlled brake booster (10), comprising a first actuator (350) which is connected to a second actuator (360) for transmitting to the same an actuating movement (P) of a brake pedal, wherein the second actuator (360) transmits the movement to a master brake cylinder, a signal generator (365) disposed between first and second actuators (350, 360) for generating a signal to be supplied to the controller of the brake booster (10), wherein the signal generator (365) is triggered by a relative movement between the first actuator and the housing of the brake booster.

  • Patent number: 5645143
Abstract: An electronically controllable braking system for ground vehicles, comprising a cylinder/piston arrangement (6) which is able to introduce friction forces (F.sub.akt) into a friction element (8) which is coupled with a vehicle wheel by subjecting a hydraulic chamber (4) of the cylinder/piston arrangement (6) with hydraulic fluid, is developed further in that an electrically actuatable displacement element (12) projects into the hydraulic chamber (4) of the cylinder/piston arrangement (6) which is actuatable as a function of control signals from an electronic controller (22) for increasing or decreasing the pressure acting on the hydraulic fluid in the hydraulic chamber (4) in order to increase or decrease, respectively, the friction forces (F.sub.akt) which, during a braking operation, are introduced into the friction element (8).

  • Patent number: 5076538
Abstract: The valve casing (12) houses an adjustment member (50) which is movable, in response to a pressure difference between the inlet (14) and the outlet (16) of the valve (10), from an inoperative position into a stop position in which the adjustment member (50) prevents the full opening of the valve. In this manner, when opening the valve (10), throttling which can be predetermined at random as compared to the fully open state takes place during a period of time while there still is a pressure difference between the inlet (14) and the outlet (16).
