  • Patent number: 4438886
Abstract: A double winding machine for winding wire on reels includes two reel supports with drive shafts. Each support is equipped with a snagging mechanism comprising a hook-bearing disk with hook, an uncoiling member, and a bearing for supporting the disk and the uncoiling member coaxially with the reel and for allowing relative displacement of the disk and uncoiling member between an initial and a displaced position. A disengageable coupler is provided to rotationally couple the disk, uncoiling member and reel. The coupler can be translationally disengaged. Brakes are provided for the disk to produce a lag between the disk and reel to lengthen the leading end of the wire. The relative displacement is performed with the lag, allowing the leading end to be retained in the hook and uncoiling member. The leading end is thus made accessible, even after winding is complete.

  • Patent number: 4413378
Abstract: The present invention concerns a method for processing a fiber sliver in a drafting arrangement, and a drafting arrangement for implementing the method. The objective for a drafting arrangement, which can be adapted to a wide range of staple lengths, to draft a fiber sliver at high speeds, has led to the following features of the invention:(a) The fiber sliver is deflected simultaneously in the drafting process systematically in such a manner that, the fiber sliver can be inserted into the subsequently arranged funnel and the subsequently arranged pair of calender rolls without further deflection.(b) All bottom rolls are fixedly arranged.(c) The first pressure rolls limiting the pre-drafting zone and the main drafting zone, respectively, are arranged to be shiftable along an arc about the rotational axis of the corresponding bottom roll in such a manner that the drafting zones are adaptable to the fiber length.

  • Patent number: 4228563
Abstract: Drive apparatus for a spinning can (4) effecting a rotational movement about its own axis (a) for depositing textile fibre slivers on spinning preparatory machines. The axis (a) of the can itself rotates about an axis (b) which is fixed relative to the room and which is parallel to the can axis (a). The can (4) is placed and centered on a can table (5) which is rotatably supported in a plate (7), and which is set into rotation by a rotating means (8) and is provided with a driving element (22). The plate (7) is horizontally supported on at least three points and performs a translatory circular movement activated by two cranks (14,15) moving mutually parallel. The drive element (22) of the table (5) is rotatably connected with at least one crank (14 or 15). The translatory circular movement of the plate (7) about the axis (b) is derived from the rotational movement of the can table (5) about its own axis (a).

  • Patent number: 4158099
Abstract: The invention provides a new process for the manufacture of aromatic compounds which at least once contain a benzene ring of an aromatic carbocyclic ring system bonded by an ethylene double bond in conjugation with a further aromatic ring system, i.e. contain the stilbene skeleton or stilbene analogon as central structural element, as well as certain classes of new compounds of this type. The process is characterized by the reaction of a Schiff base of an aromatic aldehyde with an aromatic carbocyclic six-membered ring compound which contains one to four methyl groups bonded to ring carbon atoms of a benzene ring, which furthermore contains aromatic rings which are exclusively six-membered carbocyclic rings, and wherein those benzene rings whose methyl groups are to be caused to react are free of other substituents which contain atoms wich are replaceable by alkali metal. The reaction is carried out in the presence of (a) a strongly basic alkali compound and (b) an N-dialkyl-acylamide as solvent.
