  • Publication number: 20080042037
Abstract: The purpose of the introduction of the new “HIS REST” book rest is to bring to the present and the future the most advanced book rest of our day. In the past book rests have been cumbersome and awkward, not providing ease of use and multitasking usability. “HIS REST” book rest can be used flat, on a table or lap, or opened it can sit on any flat surface and hold any material to be viewed, up at an angle suitable for the comfort of the person viewing. It can also be “hung” on the back of any flat or curved seat or bench, giving the user a hands free book rest at a comfortable viewing level. This book rest opened and turned upside down, becomes an easel of many uses, such as displaying photos, art, or flip-charts used in meeting presentations.

  • Publication number: 20070275403
Abstract: The present invention provides methods for identifying cancer patients susceptible to effective treatment with inhibitors of the tyrosine kinase activity of EGFR. The invention is based on the discovery that polysomy of chromosome 7 can be used to selectively identify cancer patients that are likely to be successfully treated with EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors or agents that otherwise function similarly to tyrosine kinase inhibitors. The invention is based on the use of nucleic acid technology where nucleic acid probes are allowed to hybridize to cell samples and the number of copies of particular genetic regions quantified. The methods for identifying cancer patients of the invention can be enhanced by determination of expression of pAKT protein in patient samples. The invention also contemplates the treatment of those patients with tyrosine kinase inhibitors.

  • Publication number: 20060211019
Abstract: Probe sets and methods of using probes and probe sets for selectively detecting high grade dysplasia and esophageal adenocarcinoma or low grade dysplasia from biologic samples are described. Methods of the invention include contacting a biological sample obtained from a subject with a set of chromosomal probes to selectively detect an esophageal carcinoma or precursor lesion in the sample, if any, under conditions for specifically hybridizing the probes to their nucleic targets present in the sample. The presence or absence of high grade dysplasia and esophageal adenocarcinoma or low grade dysplasia is thereafter specifically determined from the hybridization pattern detected for the set of chromosomal probes to the biological sample.

  • Patent number: 4772056
Abstract: A latching assembly for use in latching a cable to and unlatching it from a given object in order to move an object from one location to another is disclosed herein. This assembly includes a weighted sphere mounted to one end of a cable so as to rotate about a specific diameter of the sphere. The assembly also includes a static latch adapted for connection with the object to be moved. This latch includes an internal latching cavity for containing the sphere in a latching condition and a series of surfaces and openings which cooperate with the sphere in order to move the sphere into and out of the latching cavity and thereby connect the cable to and disconnect it from the latch without using any moving parts on the latch itself.
