Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and a system for protecting data in a computer network. A device is placed on a network edge in such a way, that all outgoing data has to pass through it. Separately, a set of data that is not allowed to leave the network is defined and stored in a secure form (typically, one way hash). The device determines the network protocol, file type, transforms and normalizes the passing data, and seeks the presence of the data from the defined set. If a threshold amount of the protected data is present, the device takes one of the following actions: block, alert, log, redact, store, redirect, encrypt, notify sender.

The invention also provides a method and apparatus for increased data access in a packet-switched network.

Abstract: A system and method for communication in a wide area network comprises a client, first proxy, second proxy and one or more server computers each having a data processing means, data storing means, and operating system and all interconnected via a wide area network such as the Internet. The first proxy computer is enabled for communication with the server computer using an application layer protocol. The second proxy computer is placed local to the client computer and is enabled by a special optimizing protocol for communication with the first proxy computer. The second proxy computer is enabled for communication with the client computer using the application layer protocol.

Abstract: A system and method for better bandwidth utilization in a network system, comprising a proxy, a server and a client. The proxy receives a data stream from the server, splits it into multiple data streams and transmits them to the client. The clients merges the multiple data streams into one stream. Multiple embodiments for both multicast and unicast streams are disclosed.

Abstract: A computer system and method uses a client computer providing a browser and a decompression module, at least one compression proxy comprising a CPU, a memory device, device for sending requests, device for receiving requests, device for sending data, device for receiving data, and data compression device, and a server, the client computer, compression proxy and server, is interconnected through a wide area network, with the compression proxy further interconnected to a user database. The method comprises the steps of receiving requests for data from a client computer, checking authorization of the requests for data, rejecting unauthorized requests for data, sending authorized requests for data to a server, receiving data from the server, checking if the data are suitable for compression, sending unsuitable data to the client computer, compressing data suitable for compression, sending compressed data to the client computer.
