  • Patent number: 8126133
Abstract: A method for performing results-based routing of telephone calls. Agents handle telephone calls seeking or inquiring into a product or service. Agents are distributed among agent pools, with each pool being defined by one or more criteria, on a real-time and/or batch basis. Such criteria may reflect an agent characteristic (e.g., age, geographical location, language, hobby, skill), a level of agent performance (e.g., number or amount of sales, speed or efficiency in providing a service) or some other factor. When a call is received at a call manager, a pool of best agents or some other pool is selected (e.g., by weighting, by statistical distribution). The best available agent in that pool is identified and the call is routed to that agent. The call manager, or other entity, may record some or all of the call (e.g., voice conversation, the agent's computer input during the call).

  • Patent number: 8109508
Abstract: A method and system improves sheet registration in a document processing device. A technique is implemented that produces accurate results with merely a small tail wag. To do so, the technique ultimately establishes or determines a variety of parameters (e.g. lateral position of a sheet, skew, registration time, nominal sheet velocity, and correction velocity). These parameters are then used to calculate a lateral velocity profile. In this regard, the calculated velocity profiles are applied to the wheels or nips, in the paper path. Thus, the wheels can be controlled and will allow for improved sheet registration in the document processing device.

  • Publication number: 20120006215
Abstract: Methods and devices detect a first lateral measure of an edge of a belt loop supported by rollers within an apparatus using a first sensor to find an amount of misalignment of the edge of the belt loop relative to a known alignment position. The first sensor is positioned at a first location within the apparatus. The methods and devices also detect a second lateral measure of the edge of the belt loop within the apparatus relative to the known alignment position using a second sensor. The second sensor is positioned at a second location within the apparatus that is different than the first location. The methods and devices use a processor to determine the non-linear shape of the edge of the belt loop based on the second lateral measure of the edge of the belt loop detected by the second sensor. The methods and devices correct the amount of misalignment detected by the first sensor based on the non-linear shape of the edge of the belt loop to generate a corrected misalignment value, using the processor.

  • Patent number: 8083228
Abstract: According to aspects illustrated herein, a method, a system, and a printmaking device for performing closed loop lateral and skew control of a sheet is provided. The printmaking device includes a feed path, printing module, and sheet registration system. First, the feed path moves the sheet in a process direction past the lateral sensor. Next, the sheet is registered by measuring a lateral position of one side edge of the sheet at a fixed reference using the lateral sensor and determining a lateral position error of the sheet using the lateral position measurement. After that, a sheet angular velocity is calculated based on the lateral position error using the registration controller. Then, the lateral position error is corrected using the at least one pair of registration nips to adjust the sheet by applying the sheet angular velocity to the sheet.
