  • Patent number: 4837875
Abstract: A playpen or crib includes a frame with a fabric enclosure connected thereto. Floor supports of the frame have inner ends which are connected to each other by a hub that permits swinging of the floor supports in a horizontal plane from a use position to a folded position. Uprights are connected by hinges to the outer ends of the floor supports. Bendable side and end rails interconnect the tops of the uprights. The fabric enclosure has sleeves for accommodating the uprights and the cross-members to define a space. A stiffened mattress is provided in the space and is supported by the floor supports in their use position. One of the cross-members can be removed or is provided with a mechanism to permit its elongation. In this way, the frame can be folded with all other parts permanently connected to each other and without removing the fabric enclosure.

  • Patent number: 4765645
Abstract: A foldable stroller includes a safety lock for maintaining the stroller in an unfolded use condition. The stroller comprises side frames which are connected together by scissor frames to move the side frames between open use positions and closed folded positions. To maintain the side frames in a spread use position, a two-part spreader bar is provided. A lock in the form of a spring loaded slide on one of the spreader bar parts includes a lock and guide pin which engages a detente in the other spreader bar part to maintain the spreader bar part in an aligned condition. This avoids an inadvertant folding of the stroller. To permit folding of the stroller this slide is pushed to the side disengaging the pin from the detente and permitting the spreader bar parts to be lifted. This allows the side frames to collapse toward each other resulting in the folding of the stroller.

  • Patent number: 4725071
Abstract: A foldable Tandem Stroller includes a main back which can be folded down to form a bed for a single child. A secondary back can be brought to an upright position exposing a seat portion and foot holds for the main back which is then in its lowered position. The main back includes an upright portion which can support the back, and a seat portion, which can support the bottom of a child sitting in the rear of the stroller. The same stroller can thus be used as a Tandem Stroller for two children or as a sleeping stroller or carriage for a single child.

  • Patent number: 4715075
Abstract: A convertible crib which has a frame with four upright corner posts, includes a leg for each corner post which is vertically movable for adjusting the height of the frame. Each corner post has a plurality of guide elements which are received in a guide channel provided in each of the legs. Bolts extend through holes in the legs and can be threadably engaged with the guide elements for holding the legs at a selected vertical position on the respective post. A plurality of holes are provided along the length of the legs so that the different set of holes can be selected to adjust the vertical height of the frame.

  • Patent number: 4706312
Abstract: A double action securing device for the drop side of a crib comprises a guide member connected to the crib or to the drop side in a vertically oriented position. A slide member is slidably mounted to the guide member between two positions for raising and lowering the drop side. A catch pin is axially mounted to the slide member and engageable with an opening of the guide member in at least one of the relative positions. The catch pin has a head which defines a recess for embracing a lower edge of the guide member opening. The weight of the slide member causes the head recess to drop over the lower edge of the opening to lock the slide member with respect to the guide member.A mattress support is used with the securing device. It has a frame defining a space comprising four vertical brackets connected to four posts of the crib frame. Each bracket has a plurality of vertically spaced open ended slots with open mouths of each slot facing toward a centerline of the crib.

  • Patent number: 4703525
Abstract: A foldable playpen frame includes socket members which are connected together in such a way that they can be brought from a use position with the sockets at the four corners of a square, to a storage position with the sockets lying in a straight line. Four floor support members each have vertical portions extending in one of the four sockets. The floor support members extend outwardly to form an X-shaped floor support when the sockets are in their use configuration, and lie parallel to each other when the sockets are in their storage position. The vertical frame members are also pivotally connected to outside ends of the support members so that fewer parts are needed to form the plate frame.

  • Patent number: 4639956
Abstract: A mattress support for a crib having a frame defining a space comprises four vertical brackets connected to four posts of the crib frame. Each bracket has a plurality of vertically spaced open ended slots with open mouths of each slot facing toward a centerline of the crib. A pair of beams which each have pins extending from their end are engaged with the vertical brackets so that at least one pin at one end of each beam is engaged in one slot of each bracket. A cross member engages the beams to hold them apart and hold their pins in the appropriate slot.

  • Patent number: 4632421
Abstract: A foldable carriage with double lock includes a plurality of members which are pivotally connected to each other and can be folded from an open to a closed position. One of the members includes one pivotally mounted latch which can engage a pin on another one of the members to hold the carriage in its open unfolded position. Another latch with a holding mechanism is engaged between other members to hold the carriage in its open position. To close the carriage, this latch is pivoted and held in an unlocked position by its holding mechanism so that the first latch can be moved to fold the carriage. A multi-purpose plastic bearing block is also used to connect various parts of the frame.

  • Patent number: 4527665
Abstract: A braking device for a perambulator having a frame and a wheel with at least one recess comprises a disc rotatably mounted to the frame with a brake rod pivotally mounted to the disc and movable with rotation of the disc from a locking position engaging the wheel recess to an unlocking position away from the wheel recess. The disc includes a slot with at least one enlargement through which extends a rod-like actuator having stepped portions. With the disc rods in their locking position, a large diameter portion of the actuator is disposed in the enlargement of the slot to prevent inadvertent rotation of the disc. To unlock the perambulator wheel, the actuator must first be depressed to clear its large diameter portion from the slot enlargement and thereafter the disc can be rotated. The braking device also includes a resilient suspension for the rear wheels formed by plates to which the braking device and an axle for the rear wheels are fixed and which form guides for the brake rods.
