  • Patent number: 5884179
Abstract: A call setup signal is routed to the gateway mobile switching center (GMSC) serving a public land mobile network (PLMN) associated with a called mobile station. The GMSC then sends a signal including data identifying the originating switch to the home location register (HLR) associated with the called mobile station. Upon determining that it would be more efficient and direct for the originating switch to release the first call connection to the GMSC and to re-originate a new call setup signal directly towards the mobile switching center (MSC) currently serving the called mobile station, the HLR transmits a Mobile Application Part (MAP) based signal to the originating switch. As a result, the originating switch releases the original call connection and re-originates a call setup signal using a roaming number identifying the MSC currently serving the mobile station as a destination address.

  • Patent number: 5878115
Abstract: A routing address representing an alternative terminal is assigned to a particular service area. Such a service area comprises a Local Access and Transport Area (LATA), Mobile Switching Center (MSC) area, Location Area, and Cell Area. Whenever an incoming call is received towards a mobile station currently located within the particular service area, instead of transmitting a routing address representing the mobile station, the serving mobile switching center (MSC) transmits a signal containing the routing address representing the alternative terminal. Instead of routing the call to the intended mobile station, the gateway mobile switching center (GMSC) utilizes the received routing address and reroutes the incoming call to the alternative terminal. By rerouting all incoming calls towards the alternative terminal in case of an emergency, all available access channels are reserved for making outgoing calls by the mobile subscribers located within the emergency service area.

  • Patent number: 5878347
Abstract: Incoming calls or messages for a mobile station that has been ported from a first HLR to a second HLR are first received by a gateway node. The gateway node, in turn, transmits a signal requesting routing instruction to a centralized database connected to a gateway node. Utilizing the received Mobile Station Integrated Services Digital Network (MSISDN) number, the centralized database determines the network address of the new HLR currently serving the ported mobile station. The received signal requesting routing information is then routed to the new HLR. The new HLR retrieves the requested information and transmits it back to the gateway node. The gateway node, utilizing the received routing information received from the new HLR, accordingly routes the incoming calls or messages to the ported mobile station.

  • Patent number: 5835856
Abstract: User defined or entered text messages are transported from a mobile station to the serving mobile switching center (MSC) over a connection-less communications link. An application module within the serving MSC extracts the encapsulated user defined text messages from the received signal for forwarding to the associated billing center. The billing center, after consolidating the call data received by a Toll Ticket, produces billing statements containing the user defined text messages allowing mobile subscribers to better identify and keep record of each call.

  • Patent number: 5624914
Abstract: Pharmaceutically acceptable compositions of matter comprising a lipophilic oligosaccharide antibiotic, e.g., the everninomicin-type antibiotic of Formula III, at least a stoichiometric amount of a base, e.g., N-methylglucamine, an amount of, e.g., hydroxypropyl-.beta.-cyclodextrin, and optionally a pharmaceutically acceptable non-ionic surfactant, e.g., Tween-80, pharmaceutical compositions containing such compositions of matter, methods of treating and preventing susceptible bacterial infections in animals especially human beings as well as a method of preventing adverse reaction syndrome while simultaneously delivering an antiinfective amount of a lipophilic oligosaccharide antibiotic such as that of Formula III to said animals as well as the use of the compositions of matter for the preparation of a medicament for such treating or preventing are disclosed.
