  • Publication number: 20030147989
Abstract: A stationary platen and link housing are coupled to each other through tie bars. A movable platen is coupled to a front surface of the link housing through a toggle mechanism. Two slide bars are fixed to the back surface of the movable platen and each slide bar extends in a parallel way from a back surface toward the moving direction of the movable platen. Two hollow shafts are each fixed to the front surface of the link housing so as to correspond to the slide bar. Each hollow shaft extends in a parallel way from a front surface toward the moving direction of the movable platen. Each respective slide bar is inserted into the inside of the corresponding hollow shaft to allow it to slide along the inside of the hollow shaft.

  • Publication number: 20030059493
Abstract: A direct type clamping assembly for a motorized injection molding machine to maintain a clamping force for a predetermined time without causing motor stalling is disclosed. A stationary platen and back plate are fixedly attached to a base, and a movable platen is slidingly associated with the base. A housing is disposed in front of the back plate with coil springs disposed between the housing and the back plate. A nut of a ball-screw assembly is rotatably accommodated in the housing with a bearing. When the ball-screw assembly is rotatably driven, the movable platen moves forward, stopping when a mold is completely joined together. The housing can accordingly move backward as the ball-screw assembly is further rotatably driven, compressing the coil springs and generating and maintaining the clamping force. Slight rotation of the motor prevents motor stalling, and the resulting slight movement of the housing scarcely influences the clamping force.

  • Publication number: 20020180079
Abstract: A stationary die is held on the front surface of a stationary platen and a movable die is held on the front surface of a movable platen. A plurality of monitoring sections are set in advance within a moving range of the movable platen and an upper limit of forward thrust of the movable platen is set for each of the monitoring sections. When the forward thrust of the movable platen reaches the upper limit set in one of the monitoring sections during a die closing operation, it is determined that abnormality occurs to stop the movable platen from moving forward. If a die closing mechanism is of a toggle link type, the forward thrust of the movable platen is calculated based on the thrust of a crosshead which drives a toggle link mechanism, the moving speed of the crosshead, and the moving speed of the movable platen.

  • Publication number: 20020177921
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method of monitoring operation data for quality control with a little possibility that a nondefective product is mistakenly determined as a defective product even if the operation data fluctuates in a large waviness curve. Every time an operation data piece for quality control is obtained, a moving average of the predetermined number of data pieces lately obtained is calculated. When the deviation of a data piece from the moving average exceeds the tolerance limit, an alarm is generated. By employing the method of the present invention for monitoring operation data such as charging time, injection time and the amount of cushion in an injection-molding machine, the accuracy of determination as to a defective or nondefective can be improved.

  • Publication number: 20020158359
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a method of preventing the failure of dies to open because of insufficient die opening force in an electric injection molding machine. A stationary die is attached to a stationary platen, whereas a movable die is attached to the front surface of a movable platen. The movable platen moves along the clamping and unclamping operation by a toggle mechanism. The toggle mechanism is expanded or contracted by a servo motor via a crosshead. A control section controls the operation of the servomotor by sending data of the crosshead position as a feed-back signal. A comparison unit compares a measured torque value of the servomotor with the upper limit value previously set and displays a warning on a display unit when the measured value exceeds the upper limit.

  • Publication number: 20020116981
Abstract: A screw is incorporated into a heating barrel. A ball screw is connected to a rear end portion of the screw through a load cell, and a servomotor for injection is connected to the ball screw. First, the heating barrel is retreated and separated from a mold, and the screw is moved to the half stroke position. After the screw is advanced for a preset period of time, the servomotor is stopped by automatic decompression to detect an output of the load cell. Similarly, after the screw is retreated for a preset period of time, the servomotor is stopped by automatic decompression to detect an output of the load cell. An average of outputs of the load cell after the screw advances and retreats is calculated and considered to be an output of the load cell under no-load conditions, thereby performing zero adjustment of the load cell.

  • Patent number: 5668440
Abstract: In a discharge lamp having a discharge medium sealed in a discharge tube assembly including electrodes for producing a discharge, a nitride layer is formed on a surface of an envelope tube of the discharge tube assembly. The nitride layer is formed by substituting an oxygen component of an oxide constituting the tube wall of the envelope tube with nitrogen, and exhibits a continuous and smooth reduction in nitride content in the direction of depth. This chemically stable nitride layer prevents a reaction between the discharge medium and the tube wall material, and removal or injection of the discharge medium. In addition, since the nitride layer also exhibits a continuous change in thermal expansion coefficient in the direction of depth, the thermal stress is reduced, and cracking, peeling, removal, and the like do not occur.
