  • Patent number: 8560159
Abstract: In order to monitor and wirelessly signal data (D, D*) containing information (DRK) about the pressure conditions present in pneumatic tires of wheels of a vehicle, it is proposed to transmit the data from electronic modules (wheel electronics) disposed in the wheels wirelessly to a controller disposed in the vehicle, wherein no data is transmitted during a stopped mode of the vehicle, and wherein the data (D*) is transmitted in the form of datagrams (DT*) during at least one further mode, which is preferably associated with a starting mode of the vehicle, in that at least intermittently a plurality of, preferably shortened, datagrams (DT*) containing the same data (D*) are consecutively transmitted in a cumulative manner to the controller.

  • Publication number: 20120194333
Abstract: Method for allocating identification codes which are contained in signals transmitted by components of a tire pressure monitoring system, said components being attached to wheels of the vehicle, to the wheel positions. A plurality of sensors to the tire pressure, to the rolling direction of the wheel, to the shocks, as well as a memory for the identification code, and a transmitter which supplies signals with the identification code, the rolling direction and the occurrence of a shock on a wheel to a receiver which, based on the supplied rolling direction information, distinguishes identification codes pertaining to wheels on the left-hand or right-hand side of the vehicle from shocks which occur on the left-hand or right-hand side of the vehicle, measures the time interval elapsing between shock signals on one side of the vehicle, multiplies this time interval by the velocity of the vehicle measured within the same time interval.

  • Publication number: 20120060598
Abstract: Allocates identifiers of units of a tire pressure monitoring system to the positions of ABS-sensors which are each assigned to the wheels of the vehicle. The identifiers are contained in signals that are emitted by the units. Each unit, which is called a wheel electronic, has a pressure sensor, which is sensitive to the tire pressure of the wheel, a motion sensor, which provides information on the rotation speed of the wheel, a memory with the individual identifier of the wheel stored therein, and a transmitter, which transmits signals only containing information on the rotation speed of the respective wheel, to a receiver. An evaluation device receives the transmitted identifier and compares the information on the rotation speed of the wheel transmitted along with the identifier, with rotation speed information, which were acquired by the ABS sensors for the same time span and transferred to the evaluation device.

  • Publication number: 20120065832
Abstract: The invention describes a method for allocating identifiers of wheel electronics of a tire pressure monitoring system to positions of wheels of a vehicle, the simultaneously occurring rotation speeds of the wheels, normalized on a consistently chosen rolling radius of the wheels differ during cornering because of the different positions of the wheels on the vehicle, so that the positions of the wheels can be sorted according to increasing speed of the wheels during cornering, the wheel electronics of each wheel comprising a pressure sensor, a motion sensor, a memory and a transmitter, which transmits signals to a receiver being connected to an evaluation device, which receives the transmitted identifiers and compares the distances which the corresponding wheels have traveled in a defined time span, sorts the identifiers according to the length of the distance traveled in the defined time span and allocates the identifiers to the wheel positions.

  • Patent number: 8109139
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for monitoring air pressure in vehicle tires using wheel electronics, which comprise a pressure sensor for measuring the air pressure present in the tire, a transmitter for transmitting pressure information, and a receiver for receiving interrogation signals, wherein a transmission activity of the wheel electronics is triggered by the reception of an interrogation signal, which is transmitted as a pulse train comprising a command section that encodes a transmission instruction for the wheel electronics. According to the invention, the pulse train comprises an adjustment section having several pulses before the command section.

  • Publication number: 20110193696
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for monitoring the load of vehicle tires which are each contacting a pavement with a circumferential section during travel, by means of monitoring devices (4) which are mounted to the tire (1) and contain a transmitter and a generator which is driven by the flexion of the tire (1), said flexion occurring during vehicle operation, wherein the generator generates a first voltage pulse each time it reaches the beginning of the circumferential section of the tire (1), which is contacting the pavement, and generates a second voltage pulse each time it reaches the end of the circumferential section of the tire (1), which is contacting the pavement, the time intervals (t1) between first and second voltage pulses are measured, the time intervals (t1) or a value calculated therefrom are/is compared with a reference value, and a warning signal is generated if a difference detected in this comparison exceeds a predefined value.

  • Publication number: 20110043353
Abstract: A method is described for monitoring and wirelessly signaling data that contains information on the pressure states prevailing in tires of wheels. In the method, electronic modules that are arranged in the wheels wirelessly transmit the data to a control device which is arranged in the vehicle. No data is transmitted during a first mode associated with a standstill state of the vehicle, while the respective electronic module transmits the data to the control device in the form of telegrams during at least one other mode associated with another state of the vehicle, the transition from a first mode into at least one other mode being determined by means of at least one acceleration sensor.
