  • Patent number: 5041698
Abstract: A cover plate assembly for wall-mounted electrical wiring devices includes a plate frame disposed on a wall surface as surrounding a wall opening in the wall surface. The wall opening is provided to receive therein one or more electrical wiring devices such as switches. The plate frame has a window through which a portion of the wiring device extends outwardly. A face plate is placed over the plate frame to entirely conceal the same. The face plate is made from a plastic material and has a center opening through which a portion of the electrical wiring device is exposed to be accessible from outside of said face plate. Also included in the assembly is an under plate which is to be fixed with respect to the wall surface for holding said plate frame therebetween. • Patent number: 4999614
Abstract: Temperature data of each picture element output from a infrared camera looking at a scene to be watched is compared with the same data of a previous frame. Temperature data which has changed from the previous frame is input to a histogram operator having a region defined by the temperature change and quantity of the picture elements. When the quantity of picture elements in the defined region exceeds a threshold level, it is recognized that a certain object having considerable temperature change and size has been detected. Thus, a signal is output to trigger an alarm system, or to sustain circulating frame memories which have recorded the previous scenes so that the scenes of visible light as well as the temperatue patterns for frames before, on, and after the trigger signal can be reproduced as visual images of a display screen.

  • Patent number: 4989841
Abstract: A metal continuously melting and retaining furnace including a retaining chamber which retains therein a molten metal fed from a melting chamber, a ladling chamber from which the molten metal is ladled out, and a treating chamber between the retaining and ladling chambers and having means of producing bubbles of a molten metal-refining gas and means of stirring the molten metal. A molten metal inlet port between the retaining chamber and the treating chamber and a molten metal outlet port between the treating chamber and the ladling chamber are disposed so as not to face directly to each other. In addition, a bubble baffle plate stands on the bottom surface of the treating chamber near the molten metal outlet port so as to oppose thereto. This makes it possible to provide a molten metal with a good yield, which is refined to a higher degree and is most suitable for producing a high quality thin cast product by casting.

  • Patent number: 4967276
Abstract: A infrared/visible integrated imaging apparatus having a video signal mixing device for superimposing a visible video signal upon an infrared video signal. The mixing device has a discriminating circuit setting electrical discrimination between an infrared video signal having a level higher than a predetermined black level and having a lower than the predetermined black level. The visible video signal simultaneously output with the infrared video signal having the level higher than a predetermined black level is practically cut off with a visible video signal selecting circuit. The partially cut off video signal is then superimposed on the thermal video signal for display. The level of each of the two video signals is independently controllable.

  • Patent number: 4960972
Abstract: A light-beam-operated heating apparatus for concentrating light into a focussed line of light for soldering or the like. The apparatus forms multiple beams from a single source; each beam having a non-uniform intensity along a first axis which is in a plane perpendicular to the optical axis of the apparatus. The beam is concentrated by a concentrator lens along a second axis in the same plane as and perpendicular to said first axis, thereby forming a line of light which has non-uniform intensity along the line. A diffuser is positioned to intercept the beam and defuse the light beam along said first axis, thereby reducing the non-uniformity of the light intensity.

  • Patent number: 4951066
Abstract: A method of cleaning a discharge port surface of an ink jet recording apparatus includes wiping the surface using a blade having a certain contact area with the surface and rubbing the surface using a rubbing member having a larger contact area with the surface than the blade. The wiping and rubbing operations are performed independently of each other so that their different purposes can be better accomplished. For example, since rubbing the surface need not be done as often as wiping, they can both be performed at optimum intervals. The rubbing member can be removably mounted to a replacement ink cartridge so that the rubbing member can be conveniently replaced at the same time as the cartridge.

  • Patent number: 4707159
Abstract: A printer for performing recording successively while a recording head moves backwards and forwards in a predetermined direction with respect to a recording medium such as paper. A paper hold roller for pressing the recording medium against a platen in the vicinity of a recording area opposite to a print head is detachable from the platen in relation to the movement of a carriage for carrying the recording head. The presence and absence of paper is detected to control the paper feed. An ink ribbon is provided which has color zones and an ink absorption zone in the direction of the ribbon width for multi-color printing by shifting the ribbon in the width direction by means of the carriage movement so that a selected color zone faces the recording head. The printer further includes a ribbon cassette, means for controlling paper insertion and feeding and means for cleaning the recording head. Also included are a paper bail control, color zone selector and paper detector.
