  • Patent number: 5460858
Abstract: A method for forming a wrinkle-free insulating layer from a resin having both photo-curing and thermosetting properties by reducing the magnitude of a concentration gradient of residual solvent in the thickness direction of the resin layer after drying the resin layer and prior to photo-curing, developing and thermosetting the resin layer. In one embodiment, such reduction is achieved by passing a substrate bearing the resin layer by a roll coater charged with a solvent for the resin, and allowing solvent to be absorbed by the resin layer. The solvent application roll can be spaced from the resin layer by a small gap such that solvent vapor is applied to the resin layer. Alternatively, solvent in liquid form can be applied to the resin layer. In another embodiment, the concentration gradient of residual solvent in the resin layer is reduced by affixing a barrier film to the resin layer and then heating the resin layer.

  • Patent number: 5252781
Abstract: In a substrate member (e.g., circuit board), a plurality of openings (15) are formed in an insulating film (14) which covers electric lines (12) formed on a substrate 11, with pad constructing (contacting) portions (13) of selected ones of the electric lines being exposed. In one example, the pad constructing portion (that portion of the pad to which final connection is to occur, e.g., by solder to a semiconductor device), is set to a first dimension (e.g., length) having a dimension less than a corresponding dimension of the original length. The film openings are also set to another dimension having an allowance size larger than a corresponding dimension of the pad constructing portion. The opening is thus of sufficiently large size in comparison to the respective pad being exposed so as to assure effective tolerance compensation for film positioning deviations in at least two (e.g., X and Y) directions as might occur during production of the substrate member.

  • Patent number: 4637709
Abstract: The surface of a sheet-like member such as a sheet of paper may be illuminated by surrounding the member with confronted electrodes. Passing an AC voltage across the electrodes generates a corona discharge within the member. The light so produced facilitates the copying of images on the surface of the member by illuminating the surface from within.

  • Patent number: 4571052
Abstract: A method and device for transferring toner image from the surface of a photosensitive plate to a sheet of paper. The transfer device comprises a substrate having volume resistivity of 10.sup.6 to 10.sup.16 .OMEGA..cm and surface resistivity of 10.sup.6 to 10.sup.16 .OMEGA., an elongated conductive member laid on the substrate and a coating layer having volume resistivity of more than 10.sup.11 .OMEGA..cm and surface resistivity of more than 10.sup.11 .OMEGA.. A narrow electric field is created between the elongated conductive member and the surface of the photosensitive plate by applying high DC voltage across the elongated conductive member and a conductive substrate of the photosensitive plate whereby the toner image is transferred from the photosensitive plate to the sheet of paper due to this narrow electric field.
