The slide bearing device includes a bearing, a shaft supported by the bearing while being subjected to sliding, and a gas supply section for supplying a dry gas to a bearing slide section where the bearing and the shaft slide against each other. A slide surface of the bearing is formed of a resin composite material, which is a mixture of a carbon material and a resin. The shaft is made of a metal and includes a groove formed on a slide surface of the shaft, the groove extending in a direction different from the sliding direction. Plural grooves may be provided and the grooves may extend in arbitrary directions. The shaft may include a collection of plural recesses on the slide surface thereof.
