  • Patent number: 7368074
Abstract: An automobile trim has a trim body (a base layer) formed of a rubber composition and having a design surface, a decorating layer formed of a thermoplastic elastomer composition and thermally bonded integrally with the design surface of the trim body. A thermal bonding layer is formed of a thermoplastic resin composition and interposed between the decorating layer and the trim body so that the decorating layer is thermally bonded integrally with the trim body through the thermal bonding layer. The thermal bonding layer has a thickness to an extent not to prevent bending flexibility when the trim is attached to a vehicle body. In another example, a cushion layer is laminated on the trim body and formed of sponge rubber of EPDM, a decorating layer is laminated on the cushion layer and formed by foaming olefin thermoplastic elastomer, and an olefin bonding layer for bonding the cushion layer and the decorating layer.

  • Publication number: 20080070006
Abstract: A weather strip is mounted at the peripheral part of a door opening of a door for an automobile. The weather strip includes a sectionally nearly U-shaped trim part and a hollow seal part. A design lip is extended out from the trim part. A decoration layer of a non-woven fabric is formed on the design surface of the weather strip such as the outer surface of the design lip through a resin bonding layer of polyethylene (PE). The non-woven fabric constituting the decoration layer contains fibers subjected to “crimping processing” and has predetermined elasticity (stretch of 5 mm or more when load of 20 N is applied).

  • Publication number: 20080026196
Abstract: A weather strip has a trim portion and a seal portion. The trim portion has a vehicle interior side wall, a vehicle exterior side wall, and a connecting portion. A metal insert is embedded in the trim portion. The insert has piece portions and a center bond portion which connects the piece portions to one another. The thickness of each of parts of the insert, which are other than both curved parts, is set to be thinner than the thickness of each of both the curved parts. Thus, the thickness of the insert, except for the curved parts, is small. Consequently, the entire insert, thus, the entire weather strip can be lightened. On the other hand, both the curved parts are relatively thick. Accordingly, the weather strip can assure predetermined strength and stiffness and can easily maintain an initial shape.

  • Publication number: 20070271853
Abstract: A vehicle door includes a glass run which corresponds to an outer peripheral configuration of a door glass. The glass run includes a body portion which is provided with a bottom wall portion and an interior side wall portion and an exterior side wall portion which extend from both edges of the bottom wall portion, respectively, and a pair or seal lips which establish seals between the door glass and themselves. Furthermore, with respect to a direction towards an inside or outside of a door frame, a foot portion of the exterior seal lip is positioned further on the outer peripheral side than an inner-peripheral edge portion of a molding member.

  • Patent number: 7294386
Abstract: A glass run has extruded portions and molded portions. The extruded portions and the molded portions are made of TPO. The glass run is attached to sashes DS. Insert members made of PP are embedded respectively in a base portion of the glass run correspondingly to a long side portion and an upper side portion of each of the molded portions. When the glass run is attached, protrusions of the insert members protruding from the base portion can engage with or stand close to edge portions of the sashes so that the protrusions can be locked with the sashes. Since the protrusions are harder than the molded portions under a relatively high temperature atmosphere, the protrusions are hardly deformed or broken even when stress caused by opening and closing of a glass is applied repeatedly to the protrusions.

  • Publication number: 20070251152
Abstract: A sub-lip is provided on an interior side wall portion of a main body having U-shaped cross section in a vertical section of the glass run (an extruded portion). The sub-lip extends substantially linearly on a side of an inner space of the main body while inclined towards an inner side of a glass opening. The sub-lip is formed integrally with the interior side wall portion simultaneously to extrusion of the interior side wall portion. A projecting length of the sub-seal is set such that a distal end portion of the sub-lip is brought into contact with a back surface of the interior seal lip when the door glass is inserted into the inner space of the main body.

  • Patent number: 7237359
Abstract: A glass run for use in a motor vehicle, which is capable of preventing seal lips from closely contacting inner surface of side walls thereof, and accordingly preventing the generation of noise therein. An opening-side groove is formed in an inner surface of an outside wall near an open end thereof to define a space between the inner surface of the outside wall and a base of the outside seal lip when an end of an outside seal lip contacts the inner surface of the outside wall. And a bottom-side groove is formed in the inner surface of the outside wall so as to receive the end of the outside seal lip which is pushed by the door glass. A protruding part having a rib is further formed in the inner surface of the outside wall so as to contact the widthwise middle of the outside seal lip which is pushed by the door glass.

  • Patent number: 6964133
Abstract: A vehicle glass run is formed with a horizontal-side extrusion part, vertical-side extrusion parts, and corner molding parts for connecting the terminal ends of those in an L shape by molding. The horizontal-side extrusion part and the vertical-side extrusion parts are made of a first material of an olefin thermoplastic elastomer. The corner molding parts are made of a second material which is an olefin thermoplastic elastomer and has a melt flow rate lower than that of the first material. The material swiftly reaches the terminal ends of the extrusion parts, and heat welds them together.
