  • Publication number: 20090214042
Abstract: A content playback apparatus reduces load concentration on a specific server apparatus that manages content keys of encrypted content, while protecting copyrights of the content. The content apparatus makes playback of content recorded in a recording medium sold possible after the specific server breaks down. A key acquisition control unit (204) reads a playback control information table (211) from a recording medium (102) via a reading unit (201). The key acquisition unit (204) acquires a rights key via a key acquisition intermediation unit (223) from an apparatus specified by an acquisition-destination type and a request-destination type that are stored in the playback control information table (211) and that corresponding to the content to be played. The key acquisition unit (204) generates a content key using the acquired rights key and, when required, a medium key recorded in a medium. A decryption unit (203) decrypts encrypted content using the content key.

  • Patent number: 7567487
Abstract: To provide a highly user-friendly content moving device which prevents unauthorized copying of content and, when content that has been irreversibly converted and moved to a recording medium is moved back to a move source, can use the content in its form before irreversible conversion. A partial information extraction unit extracts, from content stored on a content storage unit, partial data necessary for playback of the content, and a write/read unit writes the partial data to a partial information storage unit and overwrites a portion of the content corresponding to the partial data with different data, while a conversion unit transcodes the content and writes the transcoded content and the partial data to the recording medium.

  • Publication number: 20090159849
Abstract: To provide a fluorescent having low toxicity and high quantum yield, and a method for producing the same. The fluorescent is a compound comprising each one of I, III and VI group elements having a chalcopyrite structure, has a particle diameter of 0.5 to 20.0 nm and a quantum yield of at least 3% but not more than 30% at room temperature. The fluorescent is produced by: mixing a first solution (solution A), which is prepared by dissolving and mixing copper (I) salt and indium (III) salt in a solution added with a complexing agent coordinating copper (I) and indium (III), with a second solution (solution C) in which a sulfur compound is dissolved; ripening the mixed solution for a predetermined amount of time as a pretreatment; heat-treating the ripened solution under predetermined heat conditions; mixing the ripened solution with the second solution (solution C); and heating thus obtained mixed solution under predetermined synthesis conditions.

  • Patent number: 7549061
Abstract: An executing device for conducting playback is high during the playback of contents. The executing device is equipped with a highly efficient processor and reduces the processing load involved in verification by using, for the verification, only a predetermined number of encrypted units selected randomly from multiple encrypted units constituting encrypted contents recorded on a DVD. In addition, the executing device is capable of improving the accuracy of detecting unauthorized contents by randomly selecting a predetermined number of encrypted units every time the verification is performed.

  • Patent number: 7539306
Abstract: A key delivery apparatus that prevents improper use of contents, and manages a decryption key for decrypting encrypted content and a suppliable number showing how many times the decryption key is suppliable, with respect to one or more terminal apparatuses connected to a network. The key delivery apparatus receives a supply request for the decryption key from a terminal apparatus, and if the terminal apparatus is a legitimate supply target, judges whether the terminal apparatus is a first-type that manages a content-usage period or a second-type that does not manage the content-usage period, and if the suppliable number has a remaining number, supplies to the terminal apparatus, the decryption key and a key-usage period of the decryption key when judged that the terminal apparatus is the first-type and the decryption key when judged that the terminal apparatus is the second-type.

  • Patent number: 7493662
Abstract: In a data nullification device for nullifying target data recorded on a recording medium, target data is made up of a plurality of data blocks. A judging unit judges, in units of data blocks, whether the target data needs to be nullified. A nullifying unit nullifies, when a predetermined number of data blocks are judged as needing to be nullified or when one or more data blocks whose total amount of data reaches a predetermined amount are judged as needing to be nullified, the judged data blocks.

  • Publication number: 20080275991
Abstract: A group management device provides with a content a device included in a group managed by the group management device. The group management device includes a storage unit that stores a total number of remote device that the group management device currently registers, a maximum number of remote devices that the group management device is permitted to register, a total number of local device that the group management device currently registers, and a maximum number of local devices that the group management device is permitted to register. The group management device also includes a judging unit that judges whether the total number of the remote device exceeds the maximum number of the remote devices when it is judged that the one device is the remote device. The judging unit judges whether the total number of the local device exceeds the maximum number of the local devices when it is judged that the one device is the local device.

  • Patent number: 7441117
Abstract: A group formation/management system rigidly sets a group range, allows contents to be used freely among member devices in the group, and includes one or more registered member devices for holding common secret information unique to the group, a new member device for transmitting a request for registration in the group and receiving and holding common secret information, and a group management device for receiving the registration request from the new member device and, when the number of registered member devices is less than the maximum number of registerable member devices, outputting the common secret information to the new member device. Furthermore, because member devices are authenticated using the common secret information when contents are to be used, and contents are only delivered if the authentication is successful, member devices that do not hold the common secret information (i.e. unregistered member devices) can be prevented from using contents.

  • Publication number: 20080239909
Abstract: The recorder/reproducer (101), when moving a first content data, writes a second content data, which is obtained by re-coding the first content data recorded in a first recording medium, into a second recording medium instead of the first content data, writes one or more first partial information extracted from the first content data into the second recording medium, and makes the first content data irreproducible, using one or more first invalidated partial information having one-to-one correspondence with the extracted one or more first partial information. When restoring the first content data, it makes the irreproducible first content data reproducible, using the one or more first partial information recorded in the second recording medium.

  • Publication number: 20080196109
Abstract: When a PC 20 transmits a content request to a device registration apparatus 10 in which a permitted number of devices have already been registered, an expiration time management unit 105 judges whether any registration information registered in a registration list management unit 102 has an exceeded registration expiration time. If registration information with an exceeded registration expiration time is registered in the registration list management unit 102, the registration list management unit 102 deletes this registration information, and newly registers registration information of the PC 20.

  • Publication number: 20080168276
Abstract: A recording medium provided with a lead-in area and a data recording area, wherein position information indicating the position of the key information is stored in the lead-in area and key information to be used for managing the copyrights of content is recorded in the data recording area. As a result, a read device can acquire the key information in the data recording area by referring to the position information in the lead-in area, even if the read device lacks a way of handling a file system to be used in the data recording area. Moreover, software for reproduction of the content can acquire the key information in the data recording area using the file system.

  • Publication number: 20070198859
Abstract: A server apparatus encrypts content, based on a distribution key, and transmits the encrypted content to a PC via a network. The PC, to which a memory card is connected, outputs the received encrypted content to the memory card. The memory card decrypts the encrypted content using the distribution key, converts the data format of the decrypted content, encrypts the content using a medium unique key that is unique to the memory card, and records the resulting re-encrypted content internally. A playback apparatus decrypts the re-encrypted content using the medium unique key, and plays back the decrypted content.

  • Patent number: RE41096
Abstract: A distribution server 103 distributes a content via a network, and a KIOSK terminal 105 receives the content via the network and records the content in an SD memory card 100. A customer device 111 receives a content via the SD memory card 100, checks out the content and records a copy on a recording medium. SD-Audio players 122 to 124 receive a copy of the content and play back the copy. Here, the KIOSK terminal 105 records a Usage Rule that certifies the right to control recording of content on the SD memory card 100. Move Control Information showing the number of times that moving of rights is permitted is set in the Usage Rule.
