  • Publication number: 20180323954
Abstract: A method and apparatus according to the present invention addresses and/or prevents lost protocol synchronization in HARQ systems caused by ACK/NACK errors. One embodiment detects lost synchronization errors for NDI-based retransmission protocols and restores synchronization by sending an explicit RESET message. In response to the RESET message, the transmitter aborts the transmission of a current PDU and transmits a new PDU and corresponding NDI. Another embodiment prevents protocol synchronization errors by sending scheduling grants on a packet by packet basis. The receiver sends a subsequent explicit scheduling grant to the transmitter based on an error evaluation of a received PDU. The transmitter will not send the next PDU unless it receives the subsequent explicit scheduling grant.

  • Patent number: 10080234
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for requesting scheduling of resources to be used for uplink communication of data in a communications system. If the repeated transmission by a user equipment of scheduling requests on an uplink control channel is determined to be unsuccessful, a random access transmission on a random access channel is initiated as a fallback procedure.

  • Publication number: 20180184342
Abstract: Methods and arrangements in a base station and a User Equipment are provided. The methods and arrangements relates to the scenario when the UE is handed over from a source base station to a target base station in a handover scenario, and wherein the target base station may not support functionalities which the source base station and the UE support. The method the UE comprises receiving (501) a configuration message from the target base station via the source base station, configuring (502) the UE based on the received configuration message from the target base station by searching (503) for a second field in an information element of the received configuration message. The presence/non-presence or a value of the second field is indicative of how to mange a configured first functionality associated with an optical first field, wherein the configured first functionality may not be supported by the target base station.

  • Patent number: 9992673
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for authenticating a device, comprising a network communication unit and tagging circuit, in a mobile communication network, using a mobile entity comprising a tagging circuit and being authenticated to the mobile communication network. The method comprises the following steps; the mobile entity establishing a connection with the device, using said tagging circuit, exchanging authentication data between the mobile entity and the device using the tagging circuit and authenticating the device to the mobile communication network by submission of exchanged authentication data in the mobile communication network. Thereby, the permissions of a mobile entity may be shared with another device by tagging. The invention also relates to a corresponding mobile entity, device, node and computer program product.

  • Patent number: 9992009
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and apparatus for performing uplink transmission in a wireless communications system. A mobile terminal is provided with a set of available transport formats by receiving at least one UL grant comprising a transport format indication pointing to one or more transport formats. The mobile terminal then selects a suitable transport format from the set, for example in dependence on propagation channel conditions, for transmission of a scheduled transmission.

  • Publication number: 20170303239
Abstract: Method in a user equipment, a user equipment, a method in a base station and a base station for setting values of system parameters used within a wireless communication system. A first set of parameter values and an associated first tag is sent from the base station to be received and stored by the user equipment. Further, a second set of parameter values and an associated second tag is sent from the base station to be received and stored by the user equipment. When the base station determines to change system information parameters, a command tag is sent, to be received by the user equipment, which apply the set of parameter values associated with the tag corresponding to the received command tag.

  • Publication number: 20170223565
Abstract: Methods and devices for reporting a downlink channel quality are provided. In one exemplary embodiment, a method is performed by a user equipment for reporting channel quality in a communication system that uses a first radio access technology (RAT) and a second RAT. Further, the user equipment is operable to use the first and second RATs. The method includes mapping a channel quality indicator (CQI) associated with the second RAT that has a CQI format of the second RAT to a CQI format of the first RAT. By doing so, this method allows the user equipment to transmit on a channel of the first RAT the CQI associated with the second RAT.

  • Patent number: 9515797
Abstract: The present invention relates to method and arrangements for using an identifier of a predefined type, e.g. an RNTI identifying one configuration on an out-band control channel for activating the configuration identifiable by that identifier. The identifier is sent from the network to the UE, when a configuration corresponding to that identifier is to be activated. This implies that both the UE and the radio base station comprise a mapping between each configuration and the corresponding identity of each configuration.

  • Patent number: 9504019
Abstract: According to the invention data in a number of logical downlink intended for one or more mobile terminals are received in a first mapping unit, where at least a first High Speed Radio Network Temporary identity is allocated to these logical downlink channels addressing a group of mobile terminals for allowing transmission of channel data for reception by mobile terminals. A mobile terminal then reads, from a Broadcast Control Channel, necessary information including a High Speed Radio Network Temporary identity allocated to at least one logical downlink channel, where at least said first identity exists among possible identities. It then listens to a high speed shared control channel for the read identity. In case it detects the identity, the terminal follows a scheduling command, receives data on a high-speed downlink shared channel and processes said data.

  • Patent number: 9414345
Abstract: method and an arrangement (800) in a radio network node (140) for sharing of a first Cell Radio Network Temporary Identifier, referred to as “C-RNTI” between at least a first and a second communication device (110, 120) are provided. The radio network node (140) receives a first random access preamble from the first communication device (110). Furthermore, the radio network node (140) associates the first C-RNTI to the first communication device (110), in response to the first random access preamble. The radio network node (140) receives a second random access preamble from the second communication device (120). Moreover, the radio network node (140) associates the first C-RNTI to the second communication device (120), in response to the second random access preamble, while the association of the first C-RNTI to the first communication device (110) is maintained.
