  • Publication number: 20080271390
Abstract: An apparatus for refacing an existing stair step without having to remove the existing step in its entirety or cause destruction to the existing step and surrounding structure includes includes a stair tread, a nosing, a cove moulding, a riser cap, and a shoe moulding. The tread-cap apparatus may be placed over an existing stair step, thereby overcoming the need to remove or destroy the existing stair step as is common with typical stair refinishing processes.

  • Publication number: 20080147277
Abstract: According to one embodiment, an active safety control system for a driver of a vehicle is provided when the vehicle is in a first perturbed state. The system generally includes a plurality of sensors, an actuation system and a controller. The plurality of sensors are operable to generate signals which indicate that the vehicle is in the first perturbed state. The actuation system is adapted to change driving conditions of the vehicle. The controller is configured to selectively control the actuation system in response to the signals without driver intervention to change the driving conditions of the vehicle to regain control of the vehicle after the vehicle has entered the first perturbed state.

  • Publication number: 20060245822
Abstract: A cover (10) is disclosed for holding objects such as papers and reports. The cover (10) is formed of a member (12) having a front cover (14), a spine (16) and a back cover (18), a ring binder (22) and a paper surround (24). The paper surround (24) encapsulates the ring binder (22) and secures it to the member (12). The cover can be either a top bound or side bound cover.

  • Publication number: 20060050650
Abstract: A method converts an input data rate associated with N units of data to an output data rate associated with M units of data. The method includes calculating N write-control parameters each associated with one of M addresses of an output memory, directing each of N values of input data to an associated address of the output memory in response to the N calculated write-control parameters, and reading the output memory to provide output data associated with the output data rate. If N is greater than M, some of the N write-control parameters are associated with at least one shared address of the M addresses. If M is greater than N, all of the N write-control parameters are associated with different addresses of the M addresses. An apparatus is configured to implement this method.

  • Publication number: 20050273240
Abstract: A control system (18) and method for an automotive vehicle (10) includes a lateral acceleration sensor (32) generating a lateral acceleration signal, a yaw rate sensor (28) generating a yaw rate signal and a safety system. A safety system (44) and the sensors are coupled to a controller (26). The controller (26) determines a front lateral tire force and a rear lateral tire force from the vehicle yaw rate signal and the vehicle lateral acceleration signal, determines a calculated lateral velocity from the front lateral tire force, the rear lateral tire force and a bank angle, determines a calculated yaw rate from the front lateral tire force and the rear lateral tire force, the controller controlling a safety system in response to the calculated lateral velocity and the calculated yaw rate.

  • Publication number: 20050033486
Abstract: A control system for a vehicle (10) is described for use in conjunction with the safety system (44) of the vehicle (10). A tire sensor or plurality of tire sensors generates tire force signals. The tire force signals may include lateral tire forces, longitudinal (or torque) tire forces, and normal tire forces. Based upon the tire force signals, a safety system (44) may be activated. The tire force sensors may be used to monitor various conditions including but not limited to sensing a roll condition, wheel lift detection, a trip event, oversteering and understeering conditions, pitch angle, bank angle, roll angle, and the position of the center of gravity of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6634720
Abstract: This invention relates to a rotatable wheel for use on a work machine. The wheel is adapted to cooperate with a wet brake assembly being non-rotatably mounted to a spindle, using a plurality of mating splined surfaces. Positioning of wheel bearings in relation to a load line improves performance and life the wheel bearings. A recessed portion of the hub is provided between a wheel mounting flange and brake sealing surface improves life of brake seals.

  • Patent number: 4968518
Abstract: A process for recycling used cooking oil is disclosed. Used cooking oil is contacted with an aqueous solution containing ethylene diamine tetra acetic acid, n-propyl-3,4,5-trihydrobenzoate, mono-tert-butylhydroquinone, or a combination of these, to form a water/oil mixture. The water/oil mixture is then separated into its oil and aqueous components to obtain a regenerated oil.
