Abstract: An applicator instrument for dispensing surgical fasteners includes a housing, and an elongated shaft extending from the housing. The elongated shaft has a proximal end secured to the housing, a distal end spaced from the proximal end, and a first axis extending between the proximal and distal ends of the elongated shaft. Surgical fasteners are disposed in the elongated shaft. The surgical fasteners are stacked at an angle relative to the first axis of the elongated shaft. A distal end cap having a surgical fastener dispensing window is secured to the distal end of the elongated shaft. The applicator instrument has a firing system disposed in the housing, and an actuator coupled with the firing system for activating the firing system to dispense the surgical fasteners through the surgical fastener dispensing window.

The system also includes one or more corner brackets attached to a plurality of frame members at the initial position. The system also includes a plurality of mid-beams and center braces positioned in between each of the frame members and each of the corner brackets to enable decorative screen panels to be placed between each of the frame members and corner brackets. The decorative screen panels are positioned over the mid-beams and center beams and in between the corner brackets and frame members. The system also includes a plurality of corner posts each inserted into one of the corner brackets. The corner posts, combined with the corner brackets form a T-shaped frame around the decorative screen panels.

Abstract: A system for heating up water for a consumer unit in an aircraft, having a water reservoir and a control unit. The water reservoir has a heating device to heat water held in the water reservoir to a consumer temperature. The control unit controls the heating device so water in the water reservoir is automatically heated to or above a disinfection temperature at which germ formation in the water reservoir is eliminated or suppressed, and a temperature of the water in the water reservoir is maintained at or above the disinfection temperature for a disinfection period, the heating to the disinfection temperature being effected only during flight phases or portions of flight phases of the aircraft during which use of the consumer unit by a user is not to be expected. A corresponding method and an aircraft having such a system are disclosed.

The connector end can connect to another line in the interior of the aircraft, through which further line water flows into the drain mast. The discharge end can discharge water into a surrounding area of the aircraft. The line includes a plastic, into which a conductive material is embedded, by which the line can be heated electrically, by a heating current being conducted through the conductive material. A proportion of the embedded conductive material in the line increases in the line direction per length unit from the connector end of the line towards the discharge end such that the heating power which is introduced into the line per length unit increases from the connector end towards the discharge end.

Abstract: A piston for an internal combustion engine which includes a crown having spiral features designed to increase swirl of combustion gases in a cylinder of the engine is provided. The spiral features can be located in a combustion surface or in a combustion bowl of the crown. The increased swirl of the combustion gases is expected to improve mixing of the air and fuel injected into the cylinder, and thus cause the fuel to burn more completely, achieve better efficiency out of the injected fuel, and reduce unburned hydrocarbons in the exhaust gas.

The ultrasonically bonded, gathered laminate also includes an ear structural feature comprising a surface modification to the substrate and comprising at least one of the following: embossing, apertures, perforations, slits, melted material or coatings, compressed material, secondary bonds that are disposed apart from a chassis attachment bond, plastic deformation, and folds.

Abstract: A method for operating an on-board water supply and distribution system of an aircraft for supplying water includes a central tank, consumer assemblies with a supply device and a buffer tank, pump operable in a supply mode and reverse mode, filter device, and high-pressure conduit system. The central tank connects to the pump's upstream side. The conduit system connects the downstream side and consumer assemblies. The pump in supply mode delivers water from the downstream side to the buffer tank. In reverse mode, the pump can convey water from the downstream side to the upstream side. The method includes operating the pump in supply mode so water from the central tank goes to a consumer assembly in a first time interval to fill the buffer tank, and operating the pump in reverse mode in a second time interval so water from the buffer tank passes through the filter device.

Abstract: A bipod support for a drain cleaning machine is described. The bipod support includes a base, a plurality of legs, a retaining member, and a latch. The retaining member and latch are configured to engage and secure the drain cleaning machine to the bipod support. The bipod support enables rocking movement of the drain cleaning machine while supporting the weight of the machine. Also described are related methods of use of the bipod support.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining a subject's autoregulation function state is provided. The method includes: continuously sensing a tissue region of a subject with a tissue oximeter to produce first signals representative of at least one tissue oxygenation parameter during a period of time; continuously measuring a blood pressure level of the subject during the period of time to produce second signals representative of the subject's blood pressure during the period of time; determining a presence of a confounding factor that affects the sensed tissue oxygenation parameter in a manner independent of an autoregulation function of the subject, the determination using the first signals; using the first and second signals to determine an autoregulation function state of the subject when the absence of the confounding factor is determined. The method may include determining an at least one of an LLA or a ULA of a subject's autoregulation function state.

Abstract: Systems and methods for fueling (or charging) communication, for example between a hydrogen fueling station and a hydrogen powered vehicle (or an electric vehicle and charging station) may utilize near field communication as well as vehicle to infrastructure communication. Safety information, fueling or charging information, payment information, and other information may be transmitted, and the redundant nature of the communication permits fault recovery and improved process monitoring. In this manner, fueling and/or recharging is made safer, faster, and more efficient.

Abstract: The present invention features solid pharmaceutical compositions comprising Compound 1 and Compound 2. In one embodiment, the solid pharmaceutical composition includes (1) a first layer which comprises 100 mg Compound 1, as well as a pharmaceutically acceptable hydrophilic polymer and a pharmaceutically acceptable surfactant, all of which are formulated in amorphous solid dispersion; and (2) a second layer which comprises 40 mg Compound 2, as well as a pharmaceutically acceptable hydrophilic polymer and a pharmaceutically acceptable surfactant, all of which are formulated in amorphous solid dispersion.
