  • Patent number: 5832061
Abstract: An intelligent network architecture is employed to handle calls placed to a network subscriber who has changed telephone numbers from an old telephone number to a new telephone number. In a preferred embodiment two call handling procedures are available: a call forwarding procedure, in which calls to the old number are automatically forwarded to the new number; and a messaging procedure, in which an announcement is played to the caller and the caller is invited to leave a message for the subscriber. Through a phone call the subscriber may switch call handling procedures, change the forwarding number, and/or change the messaging announcement.

  • Patent number: 5778052
Abstract: Messages can be stored in a switched telephone network for later forwarding. A telephone call from a calling party telephone station being directed to a destination party telephone number is switched to a service switching point. The telephone call is monitored to determine a busy or unanswered condition at the destination party telephone number. A network database is queried to retrieve message recording instructions for the calling party. A message from the calling party is stored within the network database. The stored message is forwarded at a later date and time to one or more destination party telephone numbers. A destination party can access the message if authorized, and can record a comment onto the message. A destination party can forward the message and added comment back to the calling party or to one or more third parties.

  • Patent number: 5670142
Abstract: A method for reducing the itch and the scarring associated with chicken pox is disclosed. The method entails applying a topical pharmaceutical formulation of papain, pancreatin or subtilisin to the skin proximate to the vesicles. To further reduce scarring, an antibiotic is applied with the papain, pancreatin or subtilisin. Compositions are provided in the form of solutions, lotions, ointments and salves containing papain, pancreatin or subtilisin and, optionally, a surfactant, an antibiotic and a penetration enhancer.

  • Patent number: 5657335
Abstract: Several methods have been found to make p-type gallium nitride. P-type gallium nitride has long been sought for electronic devices. N-type gallium nitride is readily available. Discovery of p-type gallium nitride and the methods for making it will enable its use in ultraviolet and blue light-emitting diodes and lasers. pGaN will further enable blue photocathode elements to be made. Molecular beam epitaxy on substrates held at the proper temperatures, assisted by a nitrogen beam of the proper energy produced several types of p-type GaN with hole concentrations of about 5.times.10.sup.11 /cm.sup.3 and hole mobilities of about 500 cm.sup.2 /V-sec, measured at 250.degree. K. P-type GaN can be formed of unintentionally-doped material or can be doped with magnesium by diffusion, ion implantation, or co-evaporation. When applicable, the nitrogen can be substituted with other group III elements such as Al.

  • Patent number: 5015208
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved torso wrap member for body surfing. In one embodied form, the unique torso wrap member comprises a plural laterally spaced fin members which are oriented to project outwardly from the front of a body surfer's torso. The fin members extend from a flexible support disposed within the torso wrap member to be worn by the body surfer. The inventive torso wrap provides the surfer with improved buoyancy, stability and control of movement on a wave face. Moreover, the inventive torso wrap member provides the body surfer with the ability to gain maximum maneuverability from large and small waves of varied conditions and further provides for lengthened enjoyable rides of waves.

  • Patent number: 4493849
Abstract: The method of preparing a chewing gum comprising the steps of: (a) forming a premixture of lecithin and a dicalcium phosphate dihydrate-sugar and agglomeration such that the adherent film forming action of the lecithin coats the dicalcium phosphate dihydrate; (b) adding the premixture of (a) to a chewing gum composition; and (c) forming a chewing gum piece therefrom.
