  • Patent number: 8825568
Abstract: Embodiments described herein relate to apparatuses and methods for incident prediction alerts for transmission to a health care organization system by applying rules to data sets. Each rule may define a set of data elements linked to an incident, and a processor may detect one or more sets of data elements in the data sets. The processor may normalize the data feeds, generate rules on historical data, generate prediction alerts by applying rules to near-real time data feeds, train to update rules, validate and error check rules, remove statistical noise, generate visualizations for the data feeds, and receive input and feedback data.

Abstract: Devices and methods for performing a procedure within a spine are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a method includes expanding an expandable member to move a tissue portion and form a cavity within an interior of a bone-related structure. At least a portion of the cavity is filled with a filler material while simultaneously withdrawing a medium from the expandable member at a predefined ratio such that the tissue portion substantially maintains its moved position. In some embodiments, the predefined ratio is 1:1. In another embodiment, a method includes expanding an expandable member to move a tissue portion and form a cavity within an interior of an intervertebral disc. • Patent number: 8272306
Abstract: The herein proposed device relieves an autoloading handguns' barrel from the weight of the silencer allowing it to cycle properly. This improved booster housing for a silencer affords the user ten positions of orientation. A more robust orientation mechanism which minimizes rotational movement of the associated piston when it is fully seated within the booster housing is provided for. Increased accuracy of the host firearm is achieved through the minimization of rotational play. My improved booster housing design is lighter in weight than other similar designs and utilizes a coaxial expansion chamber between the housing and the interior of the silencer tube to increase sound reduction.

  • Patent number: 8225079
Abstract: A method for accelerating an operating system boot process is disclosed. In one exemplary embodiment, during a first operating system boot, information regarding the physical locations of disk access performed by the operating system to complete the boot are recorded and stored in a control data file. The control data file is used during a second operating system boot to predict which data will be required during the second operating system, and to populate a cache with that data. The cache can then be used to improve the second operating system boot to improve the boot time. In one embodiment, the information is independent of a file system of the operating system. In another embodiment, the cache can be populated by copying data from a mass storage device to a cache, and when the data is used, it can be moved from the cache to another cache.

  • Publication number: 20120074500
Abstract: Transistors are formed using pitch multiplication. Each transistor includes a source region and a drain region connected by strips of active area material separated by shallow trench isolation (STI) structures, which are formed by dielectric material filling trenches formed by pitch multiplication. During pitch multiplication, rows of spaced-apart mandrels are formed and spacer material is deposited over the mandrels. The spacer material is etched to define spacers on sidewalls of the mandrels. The mandrels are removed, leaving free-standing spacers. The spacers constitute a mask, through which an underlying substrate is etched to form the trenches and strips of active area material. The trenches are filled to form the STI structures. The substrate is doped, forming source, drain and channel regions. A gate is formed over the channel region. In some embodiments, the STI structures and the strips of material facilitate the formation of transistors having a high breakdown voltage.

  • Patent number: 8076208
Abstract: Transistors are formed using pitch multiplication. Each transistor includes a source region and a drain region connected by strips of active area material separated by shallow trench isolaton structures. The shallow trench isolaton structures are formed by dielectric material filling trenches that are formed by pitch multiplication. During pitch multiplication, rows of spaced-apart mandrels are formed and spacer material is blanket deposited over the mandrels. The spacer material is etched to define spacers on sidewalls of the mandrels and the mandrels are subsequently removed, thereby leaving free-standing spacers. The spacers constitute a mask, through which an underlying substrate is etched to form the trenches and strips of active area material. The trenches are filled to form the shallow trench isolaton structures. The substrate is doped to form source, drain and channel regions and a gate is formed over the channel region.

  • Patent number: 7987944
Abstract: A baffle configured for use in a firearm sound suppressor is disposed along a longitudinal axis that defines a path of travel for a projectile moving from a rearward side to a forward side. The baffle includes a rear bell portion having a first annular exterior surface and a forward bell portion having a second annular exterior surface. Along the longitudinal axis in a forward direction, the rear bell portion decreases in cross-section and the forward bell portion increases in cross-section. The baffle further includes a waist portion connecting the rear bell portion and the forward bell portion. A central bore extends along the longitudinal axis through the rear bell portion and defines an annular interior surface which is sized to receive a projectile traveling along the longitudinal axis. The baffle may be one of a plurality of baffles in a baffle stack.

  • Publication number: 20110154752
Abstract: A Fibreglass or UPVC construction (1) which will vary in shape and size according to which type of entrance i.e. door, window, airbrick etc, it is to cover. When fitted properly to the outside of the building and over the entrance, the rubber seal (4), which will vary In size depending on what type of surface it is to be secured to, will create a watertight seal, and therefore protect the inside of the property from water damage.
