  • Patent number: 11576025
Abstract: A solution for providing user equipment (UE) location during an emergency call (e.g., an E911 call) includes: receiving, at a positioning node (e.g., a gateway mobile location center (GMLC)), a notification of an emergency call; requesting, by the positioning node, an approximated location of the UE; requesting, from the UE, a refined location of the UE, wherein the refined location has a higher expected accuracy than the approximated location; receiving the approximated location; based on at least the approximated location, selecting an emergency service responder point (e.g., a public safety answering point (PSAP)) from among a plurality of emergency service responder points; instructing a call routing destination of the emergency call as the selected emergency service responder point; receiving the refined location; and transmitting the refined location to the selected emergency service responder point.

  • Patent number: 11558727
Abstract: Systems and methods of testing the handling of, or response to, transmitted Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) that include a geofenced area. The testing can include providing first location Global Positioning System (GPS) signals to user equipment, causing the user equipment to determine it is geographically located at the first location. A WEA alert can be provided to the user equipment and the WEA can include a geofenced area that does not include the first location. The user equipment can be provided GPS signals corresponding to a second location that is within the geofenced area of the WEA. Verification can then be performed to check that the user equipment displays the WEA alert, or message, in response to the user equipment determining its geographical position as corresponding to the second location that is within the geofenced area.

  • Patent number: 11399271
Abstract: A system for appending an emergency call (e.g., E911) with a location is described herein. The system appends the emergency call to a public safety answering point (PSAP) with a location, including an amended or up-to-the-minute location, from which the emergency call occurred. A user equipment, which places the emergency call, includes cache memory. The location is stored in or retained in the cache memory. The UE, upon recognizing the “911” string for the emergency call, retrieves the location from the UE and appends the call with the location. A location module is used to determine the location of UE. A movement module determines UE movement, including direction, speed, acceleration, and the like. The location of the UE can be amended based on the movement of the UE.

  • Patent number: 11356812
Abstract: Systems and methods of providing a location that include receiving location data from user equipment, such as a cellphone or mobile device, and providing the location data in an acceptable form to emergency services, such as a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). The location data from the user equipment can undergo a shape conversion process prior to being transmitted to emergency services. The systems and methods evaluate the received location data to determine if a semimajor and a semiminor axis of the received location data are equal in magnitude. If so, the shape conversion process is bypassed to prevent error from being introduced into the location data.

  • Patent number: 11330535
Abstract: Systems and methods for managing multiple network connections for user equipment (UE) are disclosed. The systems and methods can monitor power headroom (PHR) reports on one or more networks. When the PHR report for a UE approaches a first predetermined level on a first network, the system can evaluate the UE for a predetermined amount of time. If during the predetermined amount of time, the PHR on the first network increases to a second predetermined level—i.e., to a level where the transmission power used by the UE is closer to a maximum transmission power that the UE can provide—the UE can be instructed to disconnect from the network. This can enable the UE to disconnect in a controlled manner rather than simply letting the connection “drop” due to radio link failure.

  • Publication number: 20220104196
Abstract: A network base station can select, for each of one or more attached terminals, a respective downlink transmission mode (DTM) based at least in part on respective channel condition information (CCI). The base station can determine a subframe allocation of DTMs to subframes of a radio frame, and transmit downlink data to terminals based the subframe allocation. Additionally or alternatively, the base station can receive load information from a second base station associated with a different access network and determine the subframe allocation based on the load information. The subframe allocation can associate a specific access network with each subframe. Additionally or alternatively, the base station can send the subframe allocation to the second base station. Additionally or alternatively, the base station can determine a proportion of GBR traffic of a particular DTM, determine a reference-signal transmission rate associated with that DTM, and transmit reference signals accordingly.

  • Patent number: 11218286
Abstract: A radio frequency front end (RFFE) is configured to support dual connectivity communications, in which two different radio access technologies such as 4th-Generation (4G) Long-Term Evolution (LTE) and 5th-Generation (5G) New Radio (NR) data connections are used simultaneously for communications between a wireless communication device and respective LTE and NR base stations. In described embodiments, the RFFE uses two power amplifiers to reduce intermodulation distortion (IMD). The two power amplifiers produce output signals for a 4G LTE uplink and a 5G NR uplink, respectively. The RFFE also has a combiner that mixes the output signals to produce a composite output signal representing both LTE and NR data. Bypass switches may be used to configure the RFFE so that it can be used for single conventional 4G LTE communications.

  • Publication number: 20210405124
Abstract: A battery control device and a battery capacity estimation method are provided. The battery control device includes a current detector and a processor. The current detector detects the battery. The processor is electrically connected to the current detector. The processor performs coulomb current integration to obtain the integrated value based on a current detection result of the battery detected by the current detector during a sampling period. The processor multiplies the integrated value by a battery coulomb beta coefficient to obtain a depth of discharge. The processor calculates a first relative state-of-charge of the battery according to the depth of discharge and determines remaining battery power information according to the first relative state-of-charge.

  • Patent number: 11190925
Abstract: Mobile networks may be configured to broadcast wireless emergency alert (WEA) messages to receiving mobile devices. A mobile device within the network may receive a WEA message including data defining a geographic region associated with the message. Using the data defining the geographic region for the WEA message, the mobile device may perform location-based geofencing techniques to determine whether to present a notification in response to the WEA message. In various examples, a mobile device may calculate an offset distance based on a transgression parameter and may determine a second geographic region using the offset distance. The mobile device also may determine its current location and compare the location to the second geographic region to determine whether to present the WEA message, thereby limiting and/or minimizing the negative effects of potential undershoot and overshoot errors caused by inaccurate location determinations by mobile devices.
