  • Patent number: 8559517
Abstract: A picture signal processing apparatus includes a motion vector detecting unit for detecting information as to a motion vector of a picture from frames contained in an input picture signal; an interpolation frame producing unit for producing an interpolation frame by employing the motion vector; and a frame stream producing unit for producing a picture signal of a new frame stream by combining the interpolation frame produced with the frames of the input picture signal so as to output the produced picture signal of the new frame stream. When the picture signal processing apparatus performs a converting operation in such a manner that interpolation frames are continued between two frames of the input picture signal, at least one interpolation frame among the interpolation frames is formed as such an interpolation frame formed without employing the motion vector (namely, not depending upon motion of picture).

  • Patent number: 8223167
Abstract: An RGB signal from an input terminal is supplied to a triple over-sampling/sub-pixel control processing unit and a brightness signal generating circuit in which a brightness signal is generated. A brightness edge detection/judgment unit detects an edge from this brightness signal, judges the kind of the edge, fetches a coefficient select signal corresponding to the judgment result from a memory and supplies the signal to the control processing unit. A tap coefficient corresponding to this coefficient select signal is set in the control processing unit and a triple over-sampling processing is executed for each of RGB. For edge parts, R and B sub-pixels the timings of which are displaced by ±? pixel from the input R and B sub-pixels and the pixel gravitys of which are displaced by ±? or ±? pixel in accordance with the kind of the edge are generated.

  • Patent number: 7734143
Abstract: A disclosed technique for adjusting the image quality uses a moving picture for a sample stored in advance on a storage medium. A plurality of sample moving picture images, based on the moving picture for a sample read from the storage medium, having different image quality relative to each other are displayed on the screen. This technique enables confirmation of how the actual image having been subjected to the image quality adjustment would be displayed in an apparatus for displaying a moving image, such as a television receiver, because the sample stored on the storage medium is a moving picture.

  • Publication number: 20100079669
Abstract: A sub-field lighting image display apparatus according to the present invention improves a dynamic false contour, motion judder, and the like occurring when displaying an image to which frame rate conversion is applied. A frame rate conversion section converts a frame rate for an input image. A motion vector detection section detects motion vector V0 between frames in the input image and finds motion vector V after the frame rate conversion based on the detected motion vector V0. When the frame rate conversion section repeatedly outputs the input image as an interpolation image, a motion vector correction section corrects the motion vector V to V1 using V1=V×?, where 0??<1. A sub-field conversion section converts each frame into luminescent data for multiple sub-fields. A sub-field correction section relocates the luminescent data for the sub-fields using the corrected motion vector V1.

  • Patent number: 7548276
Abstract: The present invention provides a technique relating to a frame rate conversion which enables display of an image of extended definition by smoothening the movement of the image. Therefore, the invention fixes the direction of interpolation using information on a first frame which appeared before the insertion time of the interpolated frame, a second frame appeared before the first frame, a third frame appeared after the insertion time, and a fourth frame appeared after the third frame, based on the insertion time of the interpolated frame. The interpolated pixel is generated from pixels of the second frame and the third frame located in the direction of interpolation, and generates the interpolated frame. Then, the interpolated frame is inserted into the inputted image signal to convert the frame rate.

  • Patent number: 7512321
Abstract: A device enabling simultaneous recording and playback allows commercials to retain their advertisement function even if the commercials are skipped over during a playback process. By digital watermarking, CM-substitute data is embedded in program data among video signals broadcasted from a broadcast station. CM-substitute data is to present information such as a particular sponsor name and commodity name on display. The video recording/playback device includes a randomly accessible storage unit and has a simultaneous recording/playback capability. If commercial video is skipped over and is not rendered by playback, the CM-substitute information is superimposed on the rendered video of the program associated with the commercial. Thus, the commercial advertisement function can be retained.
