  • Patent number: 10502578
Abstract: Optimal routes and speeds for a heavy-duty truck traversing a network of roads can be automatically determined so as to minimize fuel costs (and optionally other operating costs) while still making on-time delivery of freight to a destination. Route and speed optimization can be based on a network model in which edges correspond to road segments and each edge has an associated cost function that reflects fuel consumption for a truck traversing the corresponding road segment. Given a starting location, destination location, delivery deadline, and truck information, an efficient search algorithm can be executed by a computer to determine an optimal path and speed through the network model, subject to the constraint of arriving at the destination by the delivery deadline. A truck operator can follow the route to the destination, driving at the optimal speed.

  • Publication number: 20190142313
Abstract: A wearable blood glucose monitoring device, apparatus, and method of measuring a blood glucose level are provided. The method includes an oscillator assembly that transmits microwaves at an oscillator frequency based on an input impedance. The input impedance is associated with the permittivity of blood in a user's blood vessel. The method also includes a frequency detection circuit that detects a first oscillator frequency at a first time and a second oscillator frequency at a second time. The method further includes a main control board that receives an indication of a user's condition, compares the first oscillator frequency with the second oscillator frequency to determine a frequency drift, calibrates the frequency drift based on the received indication of the condition of the user, and determines a blood glucose level of the user based on the calibrated frequency drift. A corresponding wearable blood glucose monitoring device and apparatus are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20190069792
Abstract: Study of intracardiac electrograms (IEGMs) during atrial fibrillation (AF) provides clinically significant information that can be used in ablation therapy. Methods include determining a regional feature, e.g., dominant frequency (RDF), which encompasses the relationship between simultaneously recorded electrodes and identifies the feature components of a region, rather than the feature of a single electrode. Methods employing the regional feature may be used to identify and characterize variation and disorganization in wavefront propagation or wave breaks (WBs) at each recording site, and may be used to direct catheter ablation therapy.

  • Patent number: 9635147
Abstract: A protocol for transmitting data from an external device to an electronic device is provided in which the external device transmits a data stream which includes the same data packet repeated multiple times. The data packet has a predetermined length and has a header portion at a predetermined position. A receiver at the electronic device captures a block of data having the predetermined length from the transmitted data stream, and a decoder rotates the captured block of data to place the header portion at the predetermined position within the data packet. This eliminates the need for an accurate jitter-free clock reference at the electronic device. By shifting power consumption and system complexity to the external unit where power is typically not constrained, the energy efficiency of the electronic device can be increased.

  • Patent number: 9261456
Abstract: A method and system for analyzing noisy terahertz spectroscopy data transforms the measured time-dependent data into frequency space, for example, using a discrete Fourier transform, and then transforms the frequency spectrum into wavelet frequency space. The twice-transformed data is analyzed to identify spectroscopic features of the signal, for example, to identify a resonance frequency. The method may be used, for example, in a stand-off detector to identify particular chemicals in a target.
