Abstract: A system and method for creating a custom-developed service by a customer in a service directory of a network service provider are provided. The data defining the custom-developed service received by the network service provider may be tested, corrected, and verified. The service directory may be established in the provider's network to store the data associated with the custom-developed service. Once the custom-developed service is established and operational, the customer or its subscribers may be billed based on their use of the service.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for overload control in a wireless communication system. An overload control mechanism identifies an instance of use to eliminate from among a plurality of instances of use in a wireless coverage area. In an overload situation, the overload control mechanism may, for each instance of use, determine a respective ratio of the value of instance of use to the quantity of resource consumed by the instance of use. The overload control mechanism may then sort the instances of use in order of determined ratios to produce a sorted order of the instances of use. The overload control mechanism may select as many instances of use as possible, such that the total amount of resources consumed by the selected instances of use is as high as possible without exceeding the threshold load, and then the overload control mechanism may eliminate the remaining instances of use.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for transferring a patient from a first bed to a second bed, wherein said patient is disposed upon said first bed and said first bed and second bed comprise a surface for resting said patient comprising a plurality of predetermined sections. The method further discloses removing at least one of said plurality of predetermined sections of said surface of said first bed and replacing it with at least one of said plurality of predetermined sections of said surface of said second bed and removing at least one of said plurality of predetermined sections of said surface of said second bed and replacing it with at least one of said plurality of predetermined sections of said surface of said first bed; combining said surface of said first bed with said surface of said second bed; and transferring said patient from said first bed to second bed.

Abstract: A method of operating a communication system is disclosed. A first communication session between a first base station and a mobile station is established. A service session between a first access network and the mobile station is established. When the mobile station moves to the service area of a new base station, a second communication session between a second base station and the mobile station is established. A distance between the first base station and the second base station is determined. If the distance exceeds a criteria, the service session is handed off a second access network. The criteria, which must be greater than zero, corresponds to the number of base station service areas separating the first base station and the second base station.

Abstract: A data transfer system receives a first service flow, a second service flow, and a third service flow that comprise a data session for a user device. The data transfer system transfers the first service flow to a scheduler using a first data rate limit and transfers the second service flow to the scheduler using a second data rate limit. The data transfer system also transfers the third service flow to the scheduler. The scheduler schedules transfers of the first service flow and the second service flow at a higher priority than transfers of the third service flow. The data transfer system transfers the first service flow, the second service flow, and the third service based on the prioritized schedule and using a third data rate limit. Thus, the first and second service flows receive a limited amount of preferential bandwidth, and the third service flow obtains unused bandwidth from the first and second service flows, subject to the third data rate limit.

Abstract: A method of operating a communication system comprises exchanging initial communications between a wireless communication device and a communication network over a wireless connection between the wireless communication device and a network access system and a network connection between the wireless communication device and the communication network. The method further comprises performing a plurality of ranging processes to monitor a status of the wireless connection. Upon successfully completing a ranging process of the plurality of ranging processes, the method comprises determining a duration elapsed since the last successful ranging process and processing the duration to determine if the duration satisfies a criteria.

Abstract: A method of operating a communication system comprises exchanging initial communications between a wireless communication device and a communication network over a wireless connection between the wireless communication device and a network access system and over a network connection between the wireless device and the communication network. The method further comprises, in response to a loss of the network connection due to a deterioration of the wireless connection, determining if a partial network entry process is possible to regain the connection, and if the partial network entry process is possible to regain the network connection, performing the partial network entry process. The method further comprises, in response to an improvement of the wireless connection and upon regaining the network connection, exchanging new communications between the wireless communication device and the communication network over the wireless connection and the network connection.

Abstract: The pump clutch is a device which transfers energy from its input shaft to the output shaft where a hydraulic gear pump is provided to enable the circulation of oil inside. The clutch input shaft is connected to the pressure production system; thus, the energy it requires to circulate the oil is provided. The amount of engagement between the clutch output shaft and the clutch input shaft is determined by the amount of oil circulating in the system. In turn, the amount of oil in the device is controlled by the control tap. With the clutch output shaft stabilized on the surface, we can control the circulation of the oil in the system with the control tap and the energy in the input shaft is thus transferred onto the stabilized surface through the output shaft thereby halting the rotation of the input shaft.
