  • Patent number: 5790746
Abstract: An apparatus for reproducing digital information from a recording medium having a plurality of parallel tracks and digital information recorded thereon as n-channel (n being an integer greater than or equal to 2) digital signals. The n-channel digital signals are reproduced by n-reproducing heads. The digital information contained in the reproduced signals is stored in a storage device. Discriminating data is obtained for determining which of the n-channel digital signals reproduced correspond to the reproducing heads. The timing of an access device, accessing the storage device for performing a predetermined processing of the digital signals stored in the storage device relative to the reproducing timing of the digital information reproduced by the n reproducing heads, is controlled in accordance with the discrimination data.

  • Patent number: 5715258
Abstract: An error detection code decoding device in which information codes obtained through a transmission path and original check codes which correspond to the information codes and which are obtained through the transmission path are input. A processor receives the input information codes and forms restored check codes by using the information codes, the processor including lookup tables for inputting the information codes as addresses and reading out data regarding the restored check codes. A detector detects whether or not the restored check codes and the original check codes coincide and outputs an error detection signal indicative of the presence or absence of an error.

  • Patent number: 5631914
Abstract: An error correcting apparatus including a syndrome calculator for calculating syndromes from input data added with an error correction code, a data memory which is connected in parallel with the syndrome calculator for storing the input data, a syndrome memory to store syndromes calculated by the syndrome calculator, and an error correction processor for executing error correction of the data in the data memory by using the syndromes stored in the syndrome memory. The error correction code is provided in both first and second directions when data is two-dimensionally arranged, and the error correction processor obtains values in which the result of an arithmetic operation for error correction in at least one of the first and second directions is added to syndromes in the other direction. An error position within the input data is detected and corrected again on the basis of the values.

  • Patent number: 5544176
Abstract: An information recording apparatus records data, which is in the format of packets received by broadcast, on a recording medium having a write/read capability. If the received data contains any unnecessary items of data that can be reproduced later, these items of data are eliminated at the time of recording on the recording medium. At playback, the eliminated items of data are restored and appended to the data read in from the recording medium. The resulting data, which is substantially the same as that in the packets received by broadcast, is outputted to a playback apparatus capable of reproducing the broadcast.

  • Patent number: 5485521
Abstract: In an audio mirror speaker, an uneven area is formed on a planar mirror surface and a directivity distribution is controlled by changing a relative position of a diaphragm facing the mirror surface and the mirror. The directivity distribution of such a speaker is determined by a radius of curvature of the uneven area. Since the directivity changes with various movements of the planar mirror, a freedom in setting the directivity distribution is enhanced.

  • Patent number: 5463392
Abstract: A signal processing device including a central processing block and plural signal processing function blocks, which are mutually connected by a common address bus and a common data bus, wherein analog signal lines are provided for analog signal transmission between the central processing block and the plural signal processing function blocks and the central processing block is provided with a D/A converter and an A/D converter connected to the analog signal lines. Thus there are only required a D/A converter and an A/D converter in the central processing block, for analog signal transmission between the central processing block and each of the processing function blocks. Also the wiring can be simplified as the number of analog signal lines is limited.

  • Patent number: 5400148
Abstract: A video signal processing apparatus for processing a video signal includes a plurality of series-connected signal processing circuits. A plurality of timing control circuits for respectively controlling the plurality of signal processing circuits in accordance with a reference signal are provided. At least one of the plurality of timing control circuits inputs a timing signal conforming to the reference signal, and delays the passage of the timing signal therethrough by a time interval corresponding to a delay time of the video signal generated by the corresponding signal processing circuit and outputs a delayed timing signal. Consequently, it is possible to minimize a change in the timing control circuits, that is, a change in the overall apparatus, caused by the partial change in the design of the signal processing circuits.

  • Patent number: 5353063
Abstract: In an image display method and apparatus for displaying image data, it is determined, based upon a control code contained in received image data, whether the image data is whole image data in one frame or partial image data in one frame. When it is determined that the image data is partial image data, the content of a memory being displayed is transferred to another memory, and the partial image data is stored in the memory which is the destination of the transfer. When the transfer of the data to the memory which is the destination of the transfer ends, the content of this memory is read and displayed.

  • Patent number: 5317399
Abstract: Successively transmitted images are stored in frame memories the contents of which are displayed. The user can freeze a desired image in order to view it for a prolonged period of time. When the image thus frozen is released from the freeze mode, the content of the frame memory storing it continues to be displayed until anew image is stored in this frame memory. When a new image has been written in the frame memory and a stage is reached in which the image is to be displayed, display-setting information pertaining to this image is read out and the image is displayed in accordance with this information. In a case where the display-setting information indicates that the image is to be displayed in combination with a designated image transmitted earlier and it is determined that the storage destination of the designated image had previously been placed in the freeze mode, this means that an unrelated image is presently being stored at this storage location.

  • Patent number: 5229891
Abstract: In an apparatus for recording an information signal on a recording medium forming many parallel tracks on the medium and for reproducing the information signal from the medium, a tracking control system is arranged to record a pilot signal of a given frequency along with the information signal in the first of the many tracks; to have the pilot signal also recorded in second and third tracks adjoining the first track on both sides thereof but at pilot signal phases shifted from the pilot signal phase of the first track to equal degrees in the directions opposite to each other at parts of the second and third tracks aligned perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction of the first track; and, in reproducing the information signal, the position of the recording medium and that of a reproducing head relative to each other are controlled on the basis of the pilot signal of the given frequency reproduced by the reproducing head from the first track along with the information signal.

  • Patent number: 5220425
Abstract: Image data is stored in a plurality of image memories each capable of storing at least one picture of image information, and the plurality of image memories are successively read and their stored images displayed. Ordinarily, the received image data is stored in whichever of the image memories has been designated by a memory number information contained in control data provided along with the received image data. However, when the memory number designated by the control data and the memory number information of an image memory whose stored data is currently being read out and displayed coincide, the writing of the image data in the image memory information whose number has been designated is prohibited. Instead, the image data is written in an image memory whose memory number differs from that of an image memory from which the data is currently being read.

  • Patent number: 5218454
Abstract: A signal recording apparatus for recording a TV signal in which an audio signal such as a MUSE signal and a video signal are multiplexed in a time sharing manner in units of a given period of time, is arranged to code these video and audio signals alike, to dispersively allocate a discretely separated audio signal within the video signal, to provide symbols other than the symbols of the audio and video signals within each synchronizing block for the purpose of permitting the use of other video signal recording apparatuses. The arrangement permits simplification and high-quality of the apparatus for recording the signals of this kind and thus contributes to the popularization of the apparatus.
