  • Publication number: 20130267110
Abstract: A high speed flexible printed circuit (FPC) connector includes a housing with ground and signal contact terminal pairs arranged in the housing in a staggered manner along a lateral direction. The housing has a cavity for receiving an FPC board therein. Each ground contact terminal has an upper arm positioned adjacent to a top wall of the cavity and a lower arm positioned adjacent to a bottom wall of the cavity. Each signal contact terminal has only a lower arm positioned adjacent to the bottom wall of the cavity. Signal contact terminals with the only lower arm provide the connector with better signal integrity. An actuator is coupled to the housing for fixing the FPC board in the cavity to establish electrical connections. The actuator has recesses corresponding to the positions of the signal pairs to provide a dielectric constant different from that of the other parts of the actuator.

  • Publication number: 20120258620
Abstract: In accordance with one embodiment, an electrical connector includes a connector housing, and at least one electrical terminal supported by the connector housing. The electrical terminal defines a mating portion and a mounting portion. The electrical connector includes a lock movable between an unlocked position and a locked position so as to facilitate insertion of a flex cable and subsequent locking of the flex cable to the mounting portion.

  • Patent number: 6364674
Abstract: An ejecting apparatus includes an ejecting plate 26 that has an engaging tab 32 for engaging with a memory card and is guided in the direction in which the memory card is inserted into and removed from a connector frame 10. A lever 36 is provided on the connector frame 10 so that it may be moved rotationally around a fulcrum 38. A push rod 56 presses one end of the lever and moves the lever rotationally on the fulcrum. The lever has a first pushing position 40 that disconnects the memory card from terminals 22 by moving the ejecting plate 26 in the removal direction when the lever is moved rotationally by the push rod. A projecting tab 44 at the second pushing position moves the memory card M further in the removal direction by directly moving the memory card after it is disconnected from the connector terminals. The upward projecting profile 40 is located on the lever 36 between the fulcrum 38 and the projecting tab 44.

  • Patent number: 6155853
Abstract: A connector apparatus for a card-like data processing medium has an ejection mechanism for discharging the card-like data processing medium from the connector apparatus and a lock button to lock a push rod of the ejection mechanism in place to prevent inadvertent ejection of the card-like data processing medium. The ejection mechanism includes a slidable plate that is movably mounted on a frame of the connector apparatus and that engages the card-like data processing medium. A pivotal lever for transmitting movement of a push rod into movement of the slidable plate is rotatably mounted on the frame. In an alternate embodiment, the pivotal lever is replaced by a plurality of gears that transmit movement of the push rod into movement of the slidable plate. The lock button is moveable relative to the side rail and engages the push rod to lock the push rod in place.

  • Patent number: RE38089
Abstract: A card connector is provided which can be very simply and accurately mounted on either side of a printed circuit board with less component parts. A plurality of pairs of mount brackets (70, 80) include body sections (72, 82) mounted on a connector frame 18, stand-off sections (74, 84) extending from the body sections and screw holes of the stand-off sections and are adapted to fixedly hold the printed circuit board in place. One of the mount bracket's body section (72, 82) and a connector frame 18 has a screw hole (66, 86) and the other having a claw (76, 96) inserted in the latch hole. Through the engagement of the retaining claw with the latch hole, the respective mount brackets (70, 80) can be fixedly held on the connector fame. In inverted and non-inverted positions of the respective mount brackets (70, 80), the card connector allows the respective screw hole positions to be retained in the same corresponding positions along a width direction and insertion/withdrawal direction of a PC card C.
