  • Patent number: 10911405
Abstract: Disclosed herein are techniques for maintaining a secure environment on a server. In one embodiment, the server includes a baseboard management controller (BMC), a first Ethernet port coupled with an adapter device network comprising a plurality of adapter devices, and a master adapter device including a second Ethernet port and a network switch, the network switch being controllable to be selectively coupled with at least one of the BMC, the first Ethernet port, or the second Ethernet port. The master adapter device may receive a network packet from at least one of: the first Ethernet port, the second Ethernet port, or the BMC, and determine, based on a forwarding policy, whether to forward the network packet. Based on a determination to forward the network packet, the master adapter device may determine a destination, and control the network switch to transmit the network packet to the destination.

  • Patent number: 10911292
Abstract: Access control is provided for peer-to-peer communication between a source peripheral device and a destination peripheral device without going through a host device. The access control mechanism can allow or block a request for a transaction to go out via a port of the source peripheral device to the destination peripheral device by comparing an attribute associated with the transaction with a filter attribute stored in memory. Embodiments of the disclosed technologies can allow programming of different filter attributes for different tenants in a multi-tenant environment.

  • Patent number: 10901492
Abstract: Techniques are described for power reduction in a computer processor based on detection of whether data destined for input to an arithmetic logic unit (ALU) has a particular value. The data is written to a register prior to performing an arithmetic or logical operation using the data as an operand. Depending on a timing of when the data is supplied to the register, the determination is made before or after the data is written to the register, and a memory associated with the register is updated with a result of the determination. Contents of the memory are used to make a decision whether to allow the ALU to perform the arithmetic or logical operation. The memory can be implemented as a non-architectural register.

  • Patent number: 10860357
Abstract: A multi-tenant environment is described with a configurable hardware logic platform (e.g., a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA)) positioned on a host server computer. The configurable hardware logic platform can be programmed with a host logic wrapper portion, which is controlled by a service provider, and a customer portion, which is programmed with logic provided by a tenant of the service provider. While the host logic wrapper portion is reprogrammed, protections are put in place to prevent a virtual machine or the customer logic from violating security built within the host logic wrapper portion. Such protections can be suspending communications between the virtual machine and the customer logic until the host logic wrapper is reprogrammed.

  • Patent number: 10803007
Abstract: Provided are integrated circuit devices and methods for operating integrated circuit devices. In various examples, an integrated circuit device can include a memory for storing instructions a configuration register, and an instruction execution circuit. An instruction read from the memory can be a reconfigurable instruction. which includes a set of fields corresponding to a plurality of operations. Values in the fields can determine whether the operations are enabled or disabled. For example, a first value in a first field can enable a first operation. Whether the first operation is performed can further be determined by comparing a second value in a second field to a third value read from the configuration register. The value set in the configuration register thus can control whether the operation is performed.

  • Patent number: 10778521
Abstract: Techniques for reconfiguring a server to perform various hardware functions are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a client device sends an instance request to a compute service system for launching an instance. The instance request indicates a resource requirement for the instance. In response to the instance request, the compute service system selects a server from among a plurality of servers in the compute service system based on determining that the server is configurable to at least partially meet the resource requirement. The compute service system then sends a provisioning request to the selected server. The provisioning request includes information for programming a reconfigurable resource of an adapter device in the selected server according to a particular hardware function.
