  • Publication number: 20090303349
Abstract: A frame image data specifying module specifies an arbitrary piece of frame image data from among specified moving image data, and a continuous frame image data acquiring module acquires a frame image data that is continuous with the specified frame image data. A major subject image data specifying module uses the specified frame image data and the continuous frame image data to specify major subject image data from among the specified frame image data. An image quality characteristic acquiring module scans the specified major subject image data to acquire image characteristic values that indicate characteristics of image quality of the major subject image data, and uses reference values and the acquired image quality characteristic values to determine correction values for the specified frame image data. An image quality adjusting module applies the determined correction values to the specified frame image data.

  • Publication number: 20090190690
Abstract: According to an aspect of an embodiment, a communication system includes a transmission apparatus with a coding section that generates multi-level-coded signals and transmits the multi-level-coded signals; and a deskew signal generation section that generates and transmits a deskew signal related to the multi-level-coded signals. The communication system also includes a receiving apparatus with a decoding section that decodes the multi-level-coded signals to generate decoded signals, and a deskew processing section that performs deskew processing for compensating skew among the decoded signals of the multiple channels. The deskew signal generation section generates the deskew signal that has been framed by extracting a part of the data from each of the channels of the input signals, adding framing data for enabling a receiving apparatus to recognize which channel the extracted data has been extracted from, and performing rate conversion.

  • Patent number: 7555061
Abstract: An optical sender is disclosed that operates in a Differential Quadrature Phase Shift Keying modulation scheme for high speed optical transmission and is capable of performing logical calculations at a low speed. The optical sender transmits a Differential Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (DQPSK) signal generated with modulation signals ?k and ?k so that a signal directly output from a signal receiver corresponding to the optical sender is in agreement with data signals Ik and Qk to be transmitted. The signal receiver is capable of modulation by DQPSK, and the modulation signals ?k and ?k are precoded by using the data signals Ik and Qk and the modulation signals one symbol earlier (?k?1 and ?k?1) . The optical sender includes plural precoders that perform logical calculation simultaneously and in parallel on plural data signals one period after another period.

  • Publication number: 20090148063
Abstract: A direction of an intended edge is determined, and a position of the intended edge is corrected to a position that brings a direction that connects a position of the intended edge and a position of an adjacent edge closer to the determined direction of the intended edge, and edge information representative of an area of the edge of an enlarged image is generated by using the corrected position of the edge. Gradation data before and after filtering are synthesized at a rate corresponding to a feature quantity representative of the amount of pixels within a predetermined color area. The gradation data of the plural pixels within a predetermined region including the position of the intended edge to be sharpened among the interpolated gradation data of the respective pixels on the interpolated image is sharpened at a degree corresponding to the number of pixels of the uninterpolated image.

  • Patent number: 7512263
Abstract: Heretofore, an operator has been required to judge the type of image on a display and select any of various effect processings manually, thus automation has been impossible. By totaling luminance values of pixels into a luminance distribution which pixels have been selected by a thinning-out processing for image data (step S102) it becomes possible to count the number of colors used (step S104). As a result, if the number of colors used in image data is large, it can be judged that the image data is of a natural picture. Besides, a contrast enlarging process (step S110), a saturation highlighting process (step S112) and an edge highlighting process (S114), which are suitable for application to a natural picture on the basis of the results of such judgment, can be selected automatically while changing the respective highlighting degrees.

  • Patent number: 7508548
Abstract: In image processing according to the prior art, the important part of photographic image data (referred to herein as the object) could not be determined and therefore required human participation. A computer 21 which is the core of image processing calculates an edginess which is an image variation from a differential value of data for adjacent picture elements in a step SA110, and determines object picture elements by selecting only images with a large variation in steps SA120, SA130. As optimum parameters for contrast correction and lightness compensation are calculated from image data for object picture elements in steps SA310-SA330, image processing indicators based on object picture elements are determined, and optimum image processing can be performed automatically.

  • Patent number: 7444085
Abstract: A DQPSK optical signal is split by the splitter 1 into Data 1 and Data 2 systems. For each system, a phase-modulated optical signal is converted into an intensity modulated electric signal, and clock reproduction and data reproduction are independently carried out for each system. While a phase difference occurs between the data of each system, a clock signal having an intermediate phase of the reproduced clock of each system is generated to latch data of both systems by using the clock signal. This results in the data of both systems having the same phase.

  • Patent number: 7441139
Abstract: The skew adjusting circuit for parallel signals includes: a deskew signal generating circuit which generates a deskew signal by performing a predetermined logical operation and transmits the deskew signal to a receiving circuit; a skew detecting circuit which detects the skew by obtaining correlation between the deskew signal and the data signal and then obtaining an average value of the correlation; and a delay amount adjusting circuit which adjusts the skew by controlling the amount of delay of the data signal in accordance with the average value obtained by the skew detecting circuit. As a result, it is possible to reduce power consumption and circuit size, while suppressing the number of logic processing circuits to be added for skew adjustment, when parallel signals are transmitted in circuits which needs high-speed characteristic.
