  • Patent number: 7437110
Abstract: A fixing device 100 includes a fixing belt 102, a heat source 105, a support member 104, a pressure roller 103, and a reinforcing member 106. The fixing belt 102 has a metal sleeve. The heat source 105 is provided within the fixing belt 102. The support member 104 has a contact surface 104a that is in sliding contact with the inside surface of the fixing belt 102. The pressure roller 103 forms a nip with the bottom surface 104a between which the fixing belt 102 is sandwiched and pressed. The pressure roller 103 drives the fixing belt 102 to rotate. The reinforcing member 106 has a surface contacting the support member 104 on which a plurality of irregularities is formed. The reinforcing member 106 is positioned on a side opposite the support member to the bottom surface 104a, and receives a pressure force applied by the pressure roller 103.

  • Publication number: 20080170894
Abstract: A fixing device for image forming apparatus includes: a first nip member in a shape of an endless belt and a second nip member that rotates while pressed against the first nip member. A heat source heats at least one of the nip members. A pressure receiver receives pressure applied to the first nip member from the second nip member. A sliding contact has a contact surface that makes sliding contact with an inner surface of an axial end of the first nip member. A supporting mechanism supports the sliding contact to displace the contact surface thereof away from the pressure receiver as the first nip member moves away from the sliding contact along the axial direction. The displacement increases frictional forces between the contact surface and the inner surface of the first nip member, thus suppressing axial displacement of the first nip member from the sliding contact.

  • Publication number: 20070201604
Abstract: A steam separator comprises an outer main swirler and an inner auxiliary swirler which is smaller than the main swirler. The swirlers are provided so as to be concentric on the inner wall at the lower side of the first stage inner cylinder. In the steam separator, when the gas-liquid two-phase flow which flows in the vicinity of the axial center of the first stage inner cylinder passes the auxiliary swirler, it is separated into steam and water by the centrifugal force. The separated water (droplets) is introduced into the main swirler. When the separated water (droplets) passes the main swirler, it is separated at the inner wall side of the first stage inner cylinder by the centrifugal force. Pressure loss in a steam separator is reduced and steam separation capability is increased without increasing the moisture from the steam separator.

  • Patent number: 6718153
Abstract: In a developing device according to the present invention, a developing roller 8 has a fixed shaft 12 and a sleeve 13. The length of a draw-up magnetic pole N3 provided in the fixed shaft 12 is made shorter than the length of a main magnetic pole N1. Accordingly, the amount of a developer adhering to both ends of an outer peripheral surface of the sleeve 13 is reduced, so that the density of the developer at both the ends of the sleeve 13 is maintained in suitable conditions in a state where the developer is over the main magnetic pole N1.

  • Patent number: 6275671
Abstract: A transfer roller is spaced away from the outer surface of a photosensitive drum by a specified distance to prevent the abrasion and damage of the photosensitive drum by the contact of the transfer roller and the photosensitive drum. The transfer roller not in contact with the photosensitive drum can be formed to have a sufficient hardness without damaging the outer surface of the photosensitive drum. Further, since the transfer roller has a sufficient hardness, cleaning blades can be held in without damaging the transfer roller with a sufficiently large force without damaging the transfer roller, thereby securely scraping off toner and the line adhered to the transfer roller and preventing the rear surface of a transfer sheet from being smeared.

  • Patent number: 5848330
Abstract: An imaging unit includes a developer unit which is supported rotatably about a predetermined rotation axis thereof by means of a drum unit. Spacing regulation sleeves are respectively fitted around opposite ends of a support shaft of a developer roller for regulating a spacing between the photoreceptor drum and the developer roller. A driven gear is engaged with one end of the support shaft of the developer roller for integral rotation thereof, and adapted to be driven by a drive transmission gear. By utilizing a driving force applied to the driven gear, the developer unit is biased about the rotation axis to press one spacing regulation sleeve fitted around one end of the support shaft of the developer roller against the photoreceptor drum. The other spacing regulation sleeve fitted around the other end of the support shaft of the developer roller is resiliently pressed against the photoreceptor drum by means of a resilient member.
