  • Publication number: 20140254173
Abstract: Light projected through a plurality of nested housings each containing elongated light transmissive openings that are intersecting along their lengths only allows the projected light to exit the device at the points where the light transmissive openings intersect. When relative rotational motion is set forth between the nested housings the intersecting points move with respect to the design of the elongated light transmissive openings and also by which housing(s) are rotated and by the speed of rotation. This allows for radial movement, axial movement and any combination of radial and axial movement of projected light points when viewed in an installation environment.

  • Publication number: 20140218926
Abstract: A hollow illuminated ornament housing a plurality of light strings controlled by electronics providing lighting effects communicated to the light bulbs which extend through the exterior surface of the shell. The ornament, in any configured shape, displays steady or electronically sequenced light patterns creating brilliant visual effects. The use of an electronic controller for the light effects allows for other pre-programmed features to be included in the invention such as timers, motion sensors and audio sensors to allow the ornament to react to the installation environment. The illuminated ornament can be used for ornamental installations, such as holiday decoration, or as general and mood lighting installations.

  • Patent number: 8735542
Abstract: The present invention relates to consensus nucleotide and protein sequences for HIV-1 Clade A antigens, and to nucleotide and protein sequences for Clade A antigens from circulating HIV-1 field isolates wherein the antigen sequences are closely related to the these consensus sequences. Advantageously, the present invention relates to HIV-1 Clade A transgenes that are derived from such sequences, and that encode either HIV-1 Clade A Gag, Pol (RT and Int), and Nef (collectively “GRIN”), HIV-1 Clade A Gag, RT, and Nef (collectively “GRN”), or HIV-1 Clade A Env. The invention also relates to vectors containing such transgenes, including adenovirus vectors containing such transgenes. The invention also relates to immunogenic compositions comprising the HIV-1 Clade A antigens, nucleotide sequences, vectors, or transgenes of the invention, and to methods of generating an immune response against HIV in a subject by administering an effective amount of such immunogenic compositions.

  • Patent number: 8692449
Abstract: LEDs are considered to be point light sources. Visible light provided by one or more light emitting diodes (LEDs) is passed through a light diffuser. The LEDs and diffuser are mounted inside a transparent or light-transmissive non-evacuated envelope and bulb. The light emitted from the bulb appears to originate from a filament used in conventional light bulbs rather than from a point light source.

  • Publication number: 20130051068
Abstract: A light-weight and energy-efficient lighting panel is constructed from a light-transmissive and light diffusive extrusion formed to have elongated hollows, which are hollow structures or volumes between two surfaces, at least one of which is transmissive and diffusive. Light projected into the hollow flows through the hollow and part of the light is emitted through the light transmissive and diffusive surfaces. Even though the light sources are located at the edges of a panel, the surface of the panel appears to be uniformly light by light sources distribute directly behind the panels rather than along the edges.
