  • Patent number: 5713034
Abstract: In a CAE system for preparing a transmission network for a mechanical system, a connection of components retrieving and processing portion fetches graphic data concerning the mechanical system from a graphic data memory portion, retrieves connection relationships between respective components, and prepares connection data which are stored in a connection data memory portion. The graphic data includes form data specifying the physical configuration of the components of the mechanical system. A transmission network can be automatically prepared based on the form data. The graphic data for each component of the mechanical system can be supplied by a CAD, or a form data input portion can be employed. The graphic data and the connection data are supplied to an operation processing portion, which calculates the load applied to a driving source by the mechanical system.

  • Patent number: 5706267
Abstract: An apparatus and method for retrieving densely stored data from various types of magnetic media. A medium is scanned to provide an input signal. The input signal is conditioned through differentiation, equalization and partial integration. Positive and negative signal peak detectors are connected to the conditioned signal, and a threshold signal is generating corresponding to an average or midpoint of the measured positive and negative signal peaks. An output signal is generated by comparing the conditioned signal and the threshold signal. The DC component of the input signal is accounted for by feeding back the output signal and adjusting the threshold signal based on the duty cycle of the output signal.

  • Patent number: 5702764
Abstract: An improvement is proposed in the method for the preparation of a ceramic heater consisting of a substrate of boron nitride, patterned graphite layer thereon as an electric resistance heater element and an overall cladding layer of pyrolytic boron nitride formed on allover the surface after pattern-wise engraving of the graphite layer and the substrate in order to enhance the stability of the cladding layer against crack formation or exfoliation. The improvement is achieved by limiting the depth of engraving not to exceed 200 .mu.m or chamfering and rounding of the edged and recessed ridge lines formed by engraving so that the cross sectional profile is in a smooth contour having a radius of curvature not smaller than 0.5 mm.

  • Patent number: 5682367
Abstract: A first write encoder encodes digital data in a first, high-density format. A second write encoder encodes digital data in a second, low-density (i.e., ANSI) format. A first read decoder decodes digital data from the first format. A second read decoder decodes digital data from the second format. A disk drive receives a replaceable 90 millimeter optical disk. A read/write head reads encoded data from and writes encoded data to a 90 millimeter optical disk received by the drive. In a first mode, the first write encoder is connected between a source of digital data and the read/write head, and the first read decoder is connected between the read/write head and the utilizing apparatus. In a second mode, the second write encoder is connected between the source and the read/write head, and the second read decoder is connected between the read/write head and the utilizing apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5674317
Abstract: Proposed is a novel vessel such as crucibles made from PBN (pyrolytic boron nitride), which is highly resistant against exfoliation of the surface layer and suitable for use, for example, as a container of the melt in the Czochralski single crystal growing of III-V Group compound semiconductor single crystals with an improvement in the serviceable life. The PBN-made vessel of the invention is characterized by specific values of several parameters including density, which should be in the range from 1.90 to 2.05 g/cm.sup.3, intensity ratio of the X-ray diffraction peaks representing the degree of orientation, heat conductivity coefficient and the like. The above mentioned advantageous serviceable life of the vessel can be obtained only when these parameter values are satisfied.

  • Patent number: 5659535
Abstract: A method for detecting transitions in an input signal having a DC component. The method includes the steps of generating a threshold signal from the input signal, comparing the input signal to the threshold signal to thereby generate an output signal, and adjusting the threshold signal in response to the output signal. In one preferred embodiment, the method is employed to retrieve data from an information storage device.

  • Patent number: 5644966
Abstract: A pressure regulating circuit in which the piston of a pneumatic cylinder can attain a balanced condition without requiring any adjustment to a workpiece. In the pressure regulating circuit, the pressure in an oil pressure chamber of a pressure reducing valve equals the pressure in a pressure sensitive oil chamber of a workpiece retention member. The pressure in a pressure sensitive chamber of the pressure reducing valve equals the pressure in the oil pressure chamber. Therefore, the pressure in a piston pressure chamber of a main valve connected to the pressure sensitive chamber equals the pressure in the pressure sensitive oil chamber. When the pressure in a control chamber of the main valve and the pressure in a working chamber of a pneumatic cylinder are respectively balanced with the pressure in the piston pressure chamber, the piston P can attain a balanced condition.

  • Patent number: 5607775
Abstract: Proposed is an article of pyrolytic boron nitride such as crucibles for use at a high temperature under an extremely high vacuum as in the molecular beam epitaxy. The article can be used in the high temperature, high vacuum process without the conventional elaborate and time-consuming degassing bake-out treatment because the article is wrapped in a wrapping film having a specified low moisture permeability immediately after a preliminary degassing treatment under specified conditions before the article is wrapped under a low-moisture atmosphere in a glove box.

  • Patent number: 5331134
Abstract: Proposed is an improved double-layered ceramic heater consisting of an insulating ceramic base plate and two patterned resistance heater element layers formed on both surfaces of the base plate. The improvement comprises forming the patterned heater element layers in such a fashion that the gap space of the heater element layer on one surface, where no heat is evolved by energizing, is opposite face-to-face with the complementary heat-evolving area of the heater element layer on the other surface of the base plate so as to improve uniformity of the temperature distribution over the whole surface of the ceramic heater.

  • Patent number: 5202843
Abstract: A computer aided engineering (CAE) system for effecting heat analysis of electronic equipment or similar equipment by using a finite difference method, node method, etc. As the operator enters data representative of the tridimensional configuration of equipment, a dividing section divides the data into a plurality of blocks and generate node data representative of the individual blocks. A ventilation circuit generator and a heat circuit generator generate, respectively, a ventilation circuit network and a heat circuit network, or analysis models, by using the node data and data fetched from a data base. A processing section processes the ventilation and heat circuit networks to calculate temperatures and pressures. A tridimensional wire frame generator generates tridimensional wire frame data by processing parameter data indicative of the dimensions and kinds of structural parts and elements of the euqipment.
