  • Publication number: 20090113972
Abstract: Disclosed are a method and a device for mounting a fastening element (12, 12?) on a part, e.g. a sheet metal part (13, 13?). Said fastening element comprises an axis of symmetry (18), a head piece (14) with a contact surface (22) that comes in contact with the part (13), a fastening section encompassing a thread (15, 15?), and at least one undercut (24, 82) which accommodates the material of the part. The material of the part is pressed against the contact surface and into the undercut by means of a first tool (26-26???) which is provided with a female die that is suitable for embodying the fastening element.

  • Patent number: 7322086
Abstract: A method of attaching a functional element (10, 210), in particular a fastener element to a sheet metal part (12, 212), optionally in liquid and/or gas-tight manner, is characterized in that the functional element (10, 210, 410) is pressed against the sheet metal part (12, 210, 410) supported by a die (14, 114, 214, 414) and sheet metal material (13) is pressed by means of at least one movably mounted shaped part (16, 116, 216, 416) of the die (14, 114, 214, 414) into an undercut (18, 218, 418) of the functional element (10, 210, 410). The disclosure also claims a die, a functional element, and a component assembly comprising the functional element and a sheet metal part.

  • Publication number: 20050244243
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for the attachment to a component, for example a sheet metal part, of a fastener element comprising a head part and a tubular rivet section which is disposed concentric to an axis of symmetry of the fastener element and merges via a contact surface extending in a radial direction into the head part, wherein the rivet section is passed through the hole in the sheet metal part and the rivet section is beaded over, whereby the component is clamped in the region of the hole between the contact surface and the beaded over rivet section, are wherein the component is arranged above a riveting die button and the rivet section is pressed through the component and subsequently beaded over by the exertion of a local force on the head part of the fastener element, the local force moving in circles around the central axis of symmetry, or by exerting such a force on the die button, while simultaneously carrying out a relative axial feed movement between the tool exerting the force and the die butt

  • Publication number: 20050244246
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for the attachment of a fastener element to a component, for example a sheet metal part, wherein the fastener element has an axis of symmetry, a head part having a contact surface which enters into contact with the component, a fastening section having a thread and also at least one undercut which receives the material of the component, and wherein the material of the component is pressed against the contact surface and into the undercut by means of a first tool having a die button shape matching the design of the fastener element, are characterized in that a local force is exerted on the head part of the fastener element or onto the tool to the side of the axis of symmetry and is moved circularly around the axis of symmetry while simultaneously carrying out a relative feed movement between the tool and the fastener element between which the component is arranged in order to press the material of the component into the undercut.
