  • Patent number: 8403216
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a code reading apparatus includes an image capturing unit, a first reading unit, a second reading unit and an information output unit. The image capturing unit captures an image picked up by an imaging unit. The first reading unit detects one of an image of a code symbol and an image of benefit indication from the image captured by the image capturing unit and reads commodity information corresponding to the code symbol or benefit information corresponding to the benefit indication from the detected image. The second reading unit causes, for a predetermined time after the first reading unit reads the information, until the first reading unit detects the other image not detected yet, the image capturing unit to capture the image and reads, if the first reading unit detects the other image, one of the commodity information and the benefit information from the detected other image.

  • Publication number: 20130006787
Abstract: An article code reading device optically reads a code symbol on an article, and decodes and outputs an article code. An image pickup image part picks up an image of an area of an article, the code symbol of which is read by the article code reading device, and outputs pickup image data. An article registration is executed by searching an article data file for a corresponding price for the article, and an extraction process extracts an exterior characteristic of an article from the pickup image data outputted by the pickup image part. A consistency is determined between a first data obtained based on the extraction process and a second data obtained based on an output from the article code reading device, and an alarm is generated when it there is not a consistency between the first data and the second data.

  • Publication number: 20110259952
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a checkout terminal includes a lighting unit, a detection unit, a weighing unit, a reading unit, a determination unit, a storage control unit, and a lighting control unit. The lighting unit illuminates an article. The detection unit detects an article code from the article. The weighing unit measures a weight of the article. The reading unit reads out weight information and article information of the article. The determination unit determines whether or not the weight measured by the weighing unit is identical with the weight indicated by the weight information. The storage control unit stores the article information in a second storage unit, when it is determined by the determination unit that the weights are identical. The lighting control unit controls the lighting unit so as to be turned off when it is determined by the determination unit that the weights are not identical.

  • Patent number: 8025225
Abstract: When obtaining an ID code from a user who holds out an arm to a corresponding merchandise in a noncontact manner, respective information terminal devices accept a registration input of the corresponding merchandise. When accepting the registration input of the corresponding merchandise, registration merchandise information including obtained user identification information and merchandise identification information for identifying the merchandise corresponding to the information terminal device is transmitted to a server device. The server device stores and manages merchandise sales information for the respective ID codes from the registration merchandise information received from the respective information terminal devices. When the ID code is input from a settlement device, the merchandise sales information corresponding to the ID code is transmitted to the settlement device. The settlement device performs the settlement processing based on the merchandise sales information received from the server device.

  • Patent number: 8004905
Abstract: A nonvolatile semiconductor memory recovers variation in the threshold of a memory cell due to disturbance related to a word line. The nonvolatile memory continuously performs many writing operations without carrying out single-sector erasing after each writing operation, performing the additional writing operations quicker than the usual writing operation, and lightening the burden imposed on software for use in additional writing. The data stored in a designated sector is read out before being saved in a register, and the selected sector is subjected to single-sector erasing when a predetermined command is given. Then write expected value data is formed from the saved data and data to be additionally written, completing the writing operation.
