  • Patent number: 6872543
Abstract: The present invention concerns a method for assessing the risk of peptic ulcer by determining the presence and topographic phenotype of gastritis in an individual, by determining quantitatively the pepsinogen I and gastin-17 concentrations in a serum sample from the said individual, selecting a method-specific reference value and cut-off value for respective analyte, assessing the topography and phenotype of gastritis based on a comparison of the pepsinogen I and gastrin-17 concentrations so determined with their respective method-specific reference and cut-off values, and correlating the so assessed gastritis phenotype with the risk for peptic ulcer. • Publication number: 20030074988
Abstract: A pipette for use with disposable tips and having ejector and actuating devices for detaching the disposable tips from the pipette. The actuating device includes at least one cam element for interacting with the ejector, connected to the pipette body by a pivotal joint. The mechanism makes it possible to vary the torque conversion ratio of the cam element throughout the operation cycle of the actuator. It is particularly well suited for use with a multi-tip device in which the force required for tip ejection is larger than in single tip devices.

  • Publication number: 20020108455
Abstract: The object of the invention is a method for adjusting the dispensing volume in a pipette having a spring for returning a plunger to its initial position. The invention is characterized in that when the pipetting volume is adjusted, the spring moves in accordance with the adjustment together with the adjustment members, preserving its length and/or pretension, whereby the tension of the spring does not change when the pipetting volume is adjusted. The object of the invention is also a pipette for implementing the method.

  • Patent number: 5895838
Abstract: The object of the invention is a method for correcting a temperature dependent dispensing error occurring during liquid dispensing, such as pipetting, as well as a liquid dispensing device, such as a pipette, having a higher degree of accuracy. According to the method the dispensing takes place by means of two chambers connected to each other over a gas passage. The first chamber communicates, in addition to the gas passage, with the liquid to be dispensed, and the second chamber is gas tight except for the gas passage. In order to receive liquid in the dispensing device, the volume of the second chamber is increased, resulting in gas flowing therein from the first chamber, and in turn, liquid to be dispensed flowing into the first chamber until a pressure equilibrium between the chambers has been reached.
