  • Patent number: 4151750
Abstract: A device is disclosed for removing a disposable tip from a pipette. The device includes an elongated shaft with a flattened push-button at one end and an elongated groove. Elongated projections extend inwardly from each side of the groove.A guide member extends outwardly from the pipette. The guide member includes opposed longitudinal notches configured to mate with the projections along the sides of the groove in the shaft and includes an end portion configured to slide within the groove in the shaft.A sleeve is attached to the second end of the shaft. The sleeve is configured to slide over the exterior surface of the pipette. A spring is disposed within the shaft groove and biases the shaft and attached sleeve into a first position where the end of the pipette is exposed so that a disposable tip can be attached to it. When the push-button is depressed, the shaft and sleeve move downwardly along the pipette to push off the disposable tip.

  • Patent number: 4144030
Abstract: According to the method of this invention, liquid or solid samples are first measured inaccurately with a pipette or some other measuring instrument and the measured sample quantity is weighed. After the addition of reagents, the samples are measured by the vertical principle and the results of this measurement are calculated with the weight results in a calculator which is programmed to calculate the analysis result in desired units.

  • Patent number: 4092120
Abstract: A device is disclosed for the storage and testing of laboratory samples. The device includes a base plate having an aperture therethrough and having a recess extending into its bottom surface. A first raised wall member extends outwardly from the upper surface of the base plate to define a sample storage area over the aperture. A top cover is configured to fit over the upper surface of the base plate and includes a raised portion which extends into the raised wall portion on the base plate to compress the sample. A bottom cover fits snugly within the recess on the bottom surface. A sheet of testing material such as filter paper may be disposed within the recess beneath the bottom cover where it is brought in contact with the sample through the aperture in the base plate.
