  • Publication number: 20140340884
Abstract: A linear light-emitting diode (LED) tube lamp having a readily retrofittable modular structure enables consumers or manufacturers to readily retrofit the lamp by replacing an LED module or internal electronic control units that include an LED driver in maintenance or lamp upgrade without hazards. The readily retrofittable modular structure includes a core assembly in each of lamp bases for easily securing or removing the electronic control unit through a mechanical securing means, and two sets of connection modules for quickly connecting and disconnecting the electronic control unit with the LED module. The readily retrofittable modular structure may use one bi-pin or two bi-pins to connect to the AC mains via pluggable wire for delivering power to the LEDs. Thus, the LLT lamp using the readily retrofittable modular structure may be configured as single-ended, double-ended, or double-ended with double shock-protection switches and can be cost-effectively retrofitted after initial installation.

  • Publication number: 20140327756
Abstract: A wireless fiber optic endface inspector includes a video microscope capable of wirelessly transmitting video streaming signal of endface image in real-time to a display device. The video microscope includes a microscope optical system, an adapting tip for interfacing an endface, an LED light source, a camera module for receiving and converting the endface image into video streaming signal, a Wi-Fi AP board, and a battery for supplying power. The video microscope may be constructed by adding a Wi-Fi AP board and a battery to a conventional inspector microscope. The display device has software for detecting when the endface is focused. Once the endface is focused, the display device emits an audio signal to alert the operator, who may then trigger the display device to analyze the endface image using an endface analysis software or save it to a folder, or transmit the image to a remote server.

  • Publication number: 20140268114
Abstract: The fiberscope for inspecting and cleaning a fiber connector simultaneously includes a housing with a front panel, a microscope system, a connector holder mounted at a distance from the front panel for receiving a connector ferrule of a fiber connector, and a translation stage for moving the microscope system transversely to align its optical axis with the connector ferrule. The fiberscope further includes a hand knob attached to a fine screw through the connector holder for adjusting the vertical position of the connector ferrule, a mirror pivotally mounted between the connector holder and the front panel, an LED lamp, air nozzles attached to the front panel, and a cleaning air tube for supplying compressed air to the air nozzles. The cleaning air from the air nozzles spray sideways onto the fiber endfaces so that the cleaning air bounces off sideways to avoid secondary contamination.

  • Publication number: 20140268813
Abstract: A lighting device includes a light source and an enclosure enclosing the light source wherein a portion of the enclosure has a focus-forming curvature such that when the light from the light source is reflected off the enclosure element the reflected light intersects at the focus of the curvature and creates a virtual light source at the focus. A reflective coating or a reflective material may be applied to the enclosure, or a ball lens may be used around the light source, to increase the intensity of the reflected light and of the virtual light source. A diffuser may be used to change the size and shape of the virtual light source.

  • Patent number: 8749167
Abstract: A linear light-emitting diode (LED)-based solid-state lamp using a novel voltage sensing and control mechanism operates normally in both single-ended and double-ended luminaire fixtures. The voltage sensing and control mechanisms automatically detect supply source configuration in the fixture and make proper management so that the linear LED lamp works in any fixtures without operational uncertainty or risk of fire. When used with shock protection switches on the two lamp bases at two opposite ends, the universal lamp fully protects a person from possible electric shock during initial installation and re-lamping.

  • Publication number: 20140104824
Abstract: A linear light-emitting diode (LED)-based solid-state universal lamp using a degenerate voltage sensing and control mechanism operates normally in both single-ended and double-ended linear tube lamp fixtures. The degenerate voltage sensing and control mechanism automatically detects power source configuration in the fixture and makes proper management so that the universal lamp works in any fixtures without operational uncertainty or risk of fire. When used with shock protection switches in the two lamp bases at two opposite ends, the universal lamp fully protects a person from possible electric shock during initial installation and re-lamping.

  • Patent number: 8358089
Abstract: A light-emitting diode (LED)-based solid-state device comprises a color mixing mechanism to dynamically change the correlated color temperature (CCT) of a white light. With different lumen proportions for white phosphor-coated LEDs and integrated red and green LEDs, the light mixtures can be located in any one of eight CCT quadrangles. In practice, CCTs of a white-light can be tuned in a continuous manner. Because all the possible light mixtures on the chromaticity diagram correspond to a line segment that overlays the Planckian locus within the eight CCT tolerance quadrangles, the effect of LED intensity fluctuations that may put the mixture out of white light region is reduced. Also, because the two additional LEDs that mix with the white phosphor-coated LEDs contribute to the overall spectral power distribution (SPD) that substantially matches the SPD of standard illuminants, a CRI of 80 can be reached.

  • Patent number: 7016565
Abstract: A micro-optic fiber device is provided with independent counter-bore tubes and coupling tubes serving as couplers for coupling the optical processing elements, micro lenses and the fiber pigtails. The micro-optic fiber device can be built using direct coupling manner, wherein the optical processing element is firstly inserted and fixed in the step groove of the counter-bore tube by applying bonding agent between the outer periphery of the optical processing element and the inner surface of the step groove, and then the counter-bore tube is coupled with the coupling tubes, thus eliminating the need of using bonding agent between the optical processing element and the micro lenses and preventing the bonding agent from diffusing and spreading over the optical path.
