    Assignee: Cypress Semiconductor Corp.
    Inventor: Pankaj K. Jha
  • Patent number: 6999479
Abstract: An apparatus comprising one or more nodes. The apparatus may be configured to transport one or more packets within a frame. The one or more nodes may be configured to add and/or drop at least one of the one or more packet from the frame.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 14, 2000
Date of Patent: February 14, 2006
    Assignee: Cypress Semiconductor Corp.

  • Patent number: 6954891
Abstract: A method for delineating a frame. The method generally comprises the steps of (A) receiving the frame comprising (i) a length value incorporating a payload error detection length, (ii) a length error detection value, (iii) a payload data, and (iv) a payload error detection value having the payload error detection length, wherein the payload error detection value and the payload data occupy separate fields of the frame, (B) performing an error detection on the length value based upon the length error detection value, and (C) retrieving the payload data and the payload error detection value based upon the length value in response to passing the error detection on the length value.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 7, 2001
Date of Patent: October 11, 2005
    Assignee: Cypress Semiconductor Corp.
    Inventor: Pankaj K. Jha
  • Patent number: 6847644
Abstract: An apparatus having an interface connectable to a network. The interface may be configured to transmit information via a frame in the network. The frame may have a packet envelope carrying a plurality of packets. A first packet may have one or more labels configured to control routing of the first packet through the network and a payload to carry the information.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 27, 2000
Date of Patent: January 25, 2005
    Assignee: Cypress Semiconductor Corp.
    Inventor: Pankaj K. Jha
  • Patent number: 6778561
Abstract: One aspect of the invention comprises an apparatus comprising a frame for transmitting information via a network, comprising one or more packets of different data types and lengths located anywhere inside the frame. Another aspect of the present invention comprises a network configured to transfer a plurality of frames and one or more nodes coupled to the network. Each of the one or more nodes may be configured to receive and/or transmit one or more of the plurality of frames. Each of the plurality of frames may be configured to store one of a number of packets of different data types and different data lengths, anywhere within the frame.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 10, 2000
Date of Patent: August 17, 2004
    Assignee: Cypress Semiconductor Corp.
    Inventor: Pankaj K. Jha
  • Patent number: 6771663
Abstract: An apparatus comprising a method for receiving, processing and transmitting one or more packets of a plurality of packet types, comprising the steps of (A) receiving the one or more packets, (B) processing the one or more packets, and (C) transmitting the one or more packets. The receiving step may comprise, in one example, (i) receiving a packet, (ii) determining a packet type indicating a type of data contained in the packet based on a packet identifier and (iii) processing the packet based on the packet type. The processing step may comprise, in one example, (i) identifying a length of the frame, (ii) reading a header (and/or footer) of the packet, and (iii) identifying a reusability of a packet type of the one or more packet types in response to the header. The transmitting step may comprise, in one example, (i) retrieving a packet type, (ii) retrieving a packet, and (iii) storing the packet type in the packet.

  • Publication number: 20020191621
Abstract: A circuit generally comprising a database and a processing circuit. The database may be configured to store a pointer for each first parameter of a network protocol. The processing circuit may be configured to (i) process at least one of the first parameters in an incoming packet in accordance with the pointer to produce a second parameter and (ii) present an outgoing packet containing the second parameter.
