  • Combination alkylation-reforming process

    Abstract: High octane number motor fuel is produced by a combination process comprising alkylating isobutane with an olefin to produce an alkylate, fractionating the alkylate to remove isobutane, C.sub.3 hydrocarbons and lighter, and subjecting the total alkylate to reforming to increase aromatic content thereof and yield a reformed alkylate product of improved gasoline characteristics.

  • Cooling of recycle hydrocarbon and/or alkylate product in isoparaffin-olefin alkylation

    Abstract: In a process for alkylation of at least one isoparaffin with at least one olefin in the presence of an acid catalyst in which at least a portion of hydrocarbon liquid from the settler is flashed and used as indirect coolant in the alkylation process, the pressure of the liquid withdrawn from the settler is increased prior to flashing. The pressure imparted to the liquid is sufficiently high to allow hydrocarbon vapors containing acid to pass to a fractionator without the use of a compressor.
