  • Publication number: 20140320292
Abstract: A pneumatic pressure detector comprises a first electrical terminal, a second electrical terminal and a deformable diaphragm configured to deform between first, second and third positions. When the diaphragm is in its first position, the first and second terminals are open. When the diaphragm is in its second position, the first terminal is open and the second terminal is closed. When the diaphragm is in its third position, the first and second terminals are both closed. The pneumatic pressure detector may be connected to a sensor tube.

  • Publication number: 20140304306
Abstract: A data processing network includes a database management for a plurality of databases serviced by a server comprising a plurality of data processors. Each server data processor includes a copy of the database management system and a monitor for measuring and analyzing various parameters for each server data processor and each included database and performing various methods transparently to a user. For example, when a parameter or combination thereof indicates that a database in one data processor is inactive or requires additional resources, that database is set to an inactive state or is transferred to another data processor with greater resources, respectively. An inactive database is recalled upon receipt of a request for access to that database. A database in a data processor of greater resources can be returned to a server data processor or another data processor with fewer resources. These operations are transparent to database users and independent of user or administrator intervention.

  • Publication number: 20140191843
Abstract: A machine security system for authenticating a machine key is disclosed. The machine security system comprises a microcontroller for detecting insertion of a machine key in a key slot of the machine. The machine key comprises of an embedded transponder. Based on detection of the machine key in the key slot, the microcontroller transmits an interrogation signal for charging the transponder. The microcontroller then receives a response signal from the transponder. The transponder sends the response signal when substantially charged by the interrogation signal. The response signal is encoded with an authentication code for authenticating the machine key. The microcontroller decodes the authentication code from the received response signal and authenticates the machine key based on the decoded authentication code.

  • Patent number: 8657022
Abstract: A fire detection system includes a detection tube and a sensing device. The detection tube contains a sensing fluid having a first physical condition and a second physical condition. The sensing fluid is in the first physical condition below a temperature threshold, and is in the second physical condition above the temperature threshold. The sensing fluid is at least partially liquid in the first physical condition. The sensing device is movable to open in response to a transition of a portion of the sensing fluid from the first physical condition to the second physical condition.

  • Publication number: 20130322490
Abstract: A method is presented for detecting an alarm condition with an optical fiber sensing system. An interrogator with a light source, a spectrometer, and a data processor is used to conduct a fast scan of a plurality of fiber optic sensing elements. First environmental parameter values are calculated for each fiber optic sensing element from spectrographic data collected by the interrogator during the first scan, and compared with a first threshold value. If the first environmental parameter value exceeds the first threshold value for any fiber optic sensing element, the fast scan is interrupted to perform a high resolution slow scan of that fiber optic sensing element. The optical fiber sensing system reports an alert if this high resolution slow scan indicates the alarm condition.

  • Patent number: 8515093
Abstract: A system includes a plurality of inputs each configured to receive a filtered version of a source signal. The system extracts the energy information from each input signal and compares the energy information of a plurality of input signals. Alternatively, the system extracts energy information from a signal that is the difference of two input signals. Based on the energy information, the system determines at least one parameter that may be changed in at least one circuit in a plurality of circuits to minimize the differences in energy of the input signals or to minimize the energy of the difference signal. Parameters may include for example amplification, delay, and corner frequency values. The set of circuits may include microphone interface circuits. Merely by way of example, a system with microphone interface circuits may be included in a hearing enhancement device or in a hands-free earpiece.

  • Publication number: 20130118765
Abstract: A fire extinguishing apparatus includes a structure defining a first chamber containing an electrically operable explosive device. The apparatus also has a piezoelectric cell capable of producing an electrical output in response to the impact upon the piezoelectric cell. The apparatus also has a container of nonflammable pressurized fluid in contact with the structure, and a mechanical detection mechanism with a thermal sensor for producing a mechanical force at an established temperature. The mechanical force produced by the mechanical detection mechanism is applied to the piezoelectric cell to produce the electrical output that actuates the electrically operable explosive device.
