Patent number: 7268660Abstract: A low battery indicating device is disclosed for indicating that a battery has low power. The device includes an indicator having a body movable between a retracted, unactuated position and an extended, actuated position. The indicator is visible when in the actuated position. The device also includes means for biasing the indicator towards the actuated position, and latch means cooperating with a portion of the body of the indicator, when the latch means is in a stop position, to hold the indicator in its unactuated position. The latch means is movable between the stop position and a go position which frees the indicator to move, under operation of the biasing means, to the actuated position. A memory alloy wire is mechanically associated with the latch means so as to leave the latch means in the stop position when the memory alloy wire is in a relaxed state and to move the latch means to the go position when the memory alloy wire is in a contracted state caused by heating of the memory alloy wire.Type: GrantFiled: September 3, 2004Date of Patent: September 11, 2007Assignee: Contech Electronics loc.Inventors: Gerry Bolda, Paul Johnston, Jordon Reynolds

Patent number: 7006474Abstract: A channelizing receiver is provided with a plurality of channel receivers for monitoring respective segments of a frequency band being monitored by the channelizing receiver. Each channel receiver includes a channel processor for detecting an electromagnetic signal, measuring the peak amplitude of the electromagnetic signal and comparing this peak amplitude with the peak amplitudes for the electromagnetic signal detected by adjacent channel receivers. Data responsive to a detected signal is transmitted from a channel receiver only if the channel receiver's measured peak amplitude is higher than that for the adjacent channel receivers. The data include an estimate of the frequency and bandwidth of the detected signal made by the channel receiver transmitting the data based upon an assessment of the relative peak amplitudes.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 2001Date of Patent: February 28, 2006Assignee: ITT Manufacturing Enterprises, Inc.Inventors: Edward Rumsey Oates, John Paul Johnston, Tom Bell Chamberlain

Patent number: 6896070Abstract: A coupling mechanism for a work vehicle includes a coupler frame for mounting to the work vehicle and a pair of dual hook members mountable on the frame. Each dual hook member has a body with first and second hooks projecting from opposite ends the body. The ends of the body define a body plane extending therebetween. The first and second hooks project on the same side of the body plane. Each hook forms a coupling recess, and each of the recesses opens away from the body plane. The first hook is smaller than the second hook. The dual hook member is mountable in a first orientation wherein the first hook is in an operative position and is mountable in a second orientation wherein the second hook is in an operative position.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 2003Date of Patent: May 24, 2005Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: Robert Lee Wood, Jr., Peter Paul Johnston, Duane William Powell

Publication number: 20030030323Abstract: A method and system for detecting wheel slippage uses a turn sensor to detect a vehicle turning radius in order to predict the difference in wheel speed between wheels on the outside of the turning radius and wheels on the inside of the turning radius. The turn sensor detects the turning radius of the vehicle and signals a controller. The controller utilizes the signal from the turn sensor to predict a difference in wheel speeds between the wheel to the inside of the turn and the wheel to the outside of the turn. One of the driven axles includes wheel speed sensors mounted at opposite ends of the axle. The controller receives signals from each of the wheel speed sensors to determine an actual differential wheel speed. The predicted speed differential is compared to the actual speed differential and any difference between the two indicates wheel is slippage.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 7, 2001Publication date: February 13, 2003Inventors: Gary Ford, Paul Johnston, Yngve Naerheim, Shan Shih, Marco Bassi, Mark A. Schakel, Michael E. Johnson, Mark E. Malinowski
